The calendar is telling me its baseball season but my heart is saying football season is right around the corner. I was looking at some of the talent coming back in the area and there is some very good players. Just some of the names I have being hearing a lot about already...

Heritage....Carrington Anderson and Elijah Davis
Rustburg...Shmar Johnson, Tre Tucker, and Logan Reusser
Brookville...Tanner Bernard
Glass....Thomas Patterson, and they have a young QB that took over at the end of last year who is going to be very good
Amherst, JF and LCA (1st full public school schedule) are always stocked with talent, I just haven't heard names yet. I am sure they have several really, really good players.

It should be another great year of football on Friday nights in the greater Lynchburg area.

Didn't know Amherst had so much returning on the lines. 22 seniors for next year . They have some big boys! The Seminole will be one of the best Districts in the state. I expect Glass to have a top 8 seed this year. JF will be very very dangerous. Can't wait to see the GW Danville games against JF, LCA and Amherst!

The Seminole always seems to be stacked with great teams. JF will be much better, Amherst is always reloading and will be very tough, Brookville can score very quickly. Rustburg will step back after losing so many, but the three you mentioned are very good. Glass has reignited a fire and will be very good. Heritage will be very good-with size upfront and great skill players. It's going to be exciting to see who can pull away from a stacked conference.

Was very glad to see GW pick up those OOD games for this cycle. Mainly for personal reasons, lol as these will be inter-region games that will have direct correlation to playoff seeding. With the new regional set up, us and Byrd are the only two schools who play in districts with no other teams from 4-D.

Bburg, Salem, Pulaski, Carroll in the RR, Glass, LCA, JF, Amherst in Sem, GW and Bassett in the Pied. We were able to pick up Glass OOD so we've only got 1 regional foe, while GW was able to pick up 3 in addition to Bassett. I know Bburg and Salem both play Amherst so they'll both have 4 regional games during the regular season. Not sure what Byrd's schedule looks like.

Will be interesting to see after the next regional meeting, what the playoff format will be. Will we send 8 of 12 to the playoffs or 6 of 12? This coming year I would argue they're going to be 8 formidable teams in our region but that probably won't always be the case. Either way it's going to be a great year of football, come on 7 on 7!!!!

One minor clarification - Carroll County will be in the Three Rivers District next year with Giles, Glenvar, etc. They weren't doing well at the gate with River Ridge opponents and their football program has been abysmal, hence their move to a district where they'll be the lone 4A school.

JF picked up a great coach & defense of coordinator long time assistant to Mike Sharnus at Rustburg & Altavista his name is Mike Revis he will help JF defense tremendously .

The Titan Trophy team will be coming out soon. Several of the players you have listed will be on it. It is a tremendous honor, and the team will be introduced at the Hillcats game.
I have heard invites went out last week and the team will be announced on May 9th. A big honor for the best of the best players in the Lynchburg area.

They should have 20 or so Sr's this year. They may not drop off that much. They'll have a dual threat Sr QB in Turner. Tough schedule with the Seminole slate and Salem, GW, and Blacksburg OOD though.

Ill give y'all the benefit of the doubt. Amherst has a team full of lineman 240lbs + and some athletic/tall receivers 6ft tall+ returning. If they can be as physical as they were prior to the injury of Turner and be consistent then I want no parts of this team. The loss of Booker, Woodfolk, Spencer, Page, etc hurt but Amherst will be right in the thick of things come playoff time.

I was at the Hillcats game on May 9th, and saw the 2017 Titan Trophy Team. Really amazing job and very special way to honor the high school student athletes. 2014 winner-Juan Thornhill-(AltaVista-UVA) was there with last years winner Dante Jones (Rustburg-West Virginia State). About 16 teams representing the best of the best rising seniors in the area. @aimhighveteran you were spot on with the names you mentioned, and I would not be surprised to see those guys getting some hardware at the banquet in August as they have awards for each position. My guess is the early favorite for the Titan trophy would be Grayson Overstreet.
