Most folks think NHS will struggle this season, nnkalumni2 does not agree with the majority's assessment.

The Indians will be one of the top teams I agree...

Rapp going to take the lunch money, backpack & girlfriend. Just saying

Nice!

Sounds like the swag from the old school Essex powerhouse teams.

Reminds me of a time when another school's fan said to me "Essex people make me sick, you guys walk out onto the field like you have already won."

I was like "well, heck yeah..., of course" :)

I just saw a post on another site that said Essex just had a 7 on 7 against a 3A & 5A school. It didn’t name the 2 schools. Essex won all 3 games. If this is true, sounds like 2 of my concerns from an earlier post from a month or so ago are coming together just fine.

Just found out it was 3A Spotsylvania (8-5 last year) and 5A Brooke Point (7-5 last year). Time will tell but sounds like Essex may have a passing game again.

Don't know much of Brooke Point but Spotsy isn't much of a measuring stick when it comes to going against/defending the spread. Either way, good job Essex......

Brooke Point had 21 Seniors 2018-2019 Season. That's alot to lose at a 5A School. Also graduated 15 starter's from last year team. Just Saying

Wow. Quick to hate on Essex.... No other 1As are even playing 3A or 5A competition in 7v7.
7v7 isn't football but good for Essex. As I've said before you cannot count them out. They are the class of region A until someone knocks them off

You just made my point about Rappahannock with your post. If Spotsy isn’t much of a measuring stick when it comes to the Spread, how are the schools that Rapp played in that 7v7 (Mathews, Surry, Lancaster, Northumberland, Gloucester, Smithfield) any better. Bishop Sullivan was the only strong competition there. So Rapp finishing 2nd in that 7v7 was expected in my book.

If 21 seniors, with 15 being starters is a hard hit for a 5A (and I agree), just think how hard of a hit it is for 1A Essex on losing 15 or so seniors from last year. Out of that 15, maybe half (give or take) were starters. And that’s from a 1A team with only about 35ish players. Just saying...

Awwww, the big bad bully mad bc sum1 was dismissive of them bragging? Essex, your the King stop acting a petty whiny prince. This is the official notice, Essex reign of Region A ends this year!!!

Not saying Essex isn't good just giving info on Brooke Point. But looking at all the NNK teams Rosters Rappahannock has best returning Roster.

I understood Wiz. I was just pointing out the same thing happen to Essex with seniors. I agree with you that Rapp has the best returning roster based on who’s returning.

I get a kick out of you trying soooooo hard to paint me as a bully, bragger (and my favorite) “a petty whiny price”. I’ve said nothing negative about your Raiders. I guess me saying they have a good shot at winning Region A won’t good enough for you. Since then you’ve been coming at me. Lol. If you can...do show me a post where talked down about your Raiders? It seems to me like if no one agrees with you about your Raiders, you label them as a hater and so on. Lol. Come to think about it, you’ve only done that to me. Lol.

Rapp got a ton of pressure on them anything less than a State Title game birth is a waste of talent, They will have to show what they are all about early vs Southampton & W&L . If they are not legit by the time they see Essex they maybe non - believers of themselves.

Don't know about Rapp, they may be by far best team in state? But I think you are off by 1 game because of their region. I don't think the Semifinals matchup has changed, but if they make final 4 and lose to one of the Region B teams (RH, Sussex, Franklin, Alta Vista, William Campbell, etc) that can't be looked upon as a bad year. It sounds like A and B should be competitive, C as Galax, and D has a favorite but not looked at as strong as the other 3 regions.

Since I don't have a team in 1a, I would like to see the guys with the most posters get their teams deep in the playoffs and settle all this trash talk. Getting to see those back and forth when it happens would be a GREAT read haha

This is quite possibly the most ridiculous statement I've ever read here and I've read a lot of ridiculouness. Brooke Point had an enrollment of 1,811 students according to March 2018 ADM figures. I've seen W&L and Essex graduate as many as 21 seniors. Now that's "a lot" when you have less than 500 students

he wasn't playing QB when he got injured. The Northumberland game was his last appearance as a QB I do believe. But he is back and I suspect the top candidate for that position.

Don't know about other Regions but Essex & Rapp should be the front runners for Region A. As far as pressure on Rapp, I dont buy that.

If you insert the single word "even" between "lose" and "at", the statement makes much more sense. I think that's what the OP meant.

One team nobody has really mentioned is Mathews. They return all but 4 players off of last years team and Jovan Johnson might be the best kept secret in all of Region A. I see them finishing no worse than 2nd in the Tidewater District. They have a good young coach who is a Mathews alum and it seems like the whole community has rallied around him. On top of that, he's even got a youth program up and running.

Also King and Queen could surprise this year. On paper, they have probably the best team that they've had since the early 2000s. A strong senior class led by Xavon Montgomery who had over 100 tackles last year, along with 6'2 215 lb RB Charles Mills and all district linebacker Dre Berry. Couple that with an extremely talented freshman class who had success at the jv level last year. Names to remember are QB Malik Holmes who will start this year, rb/slot Tyquan Speight who is going to be special, and rb/slot Kam Berry who despite his small stature is tough as nails and is tough to bring down.

Both Mathews and KQ are flying under the radar, but I think both team's coaches like it that way.

So how do you think the tidewater district will look this year and do you see KW losing any district games?

I don't see KW losing any district games. I don't know much about Middlesex other than they lost their only 2 offensive weapons from last year. West Point still has some good players but losing Porter and Lawson will definitely hurt them. The battle is for 2nd place and I think it's a lot closer than people think.

Over 100 tackles?
That's quite a few. But to your credit they entered that stat on MaxPreps- 97 solo tackles. Just seems pretty inflated for a team that gave up 400 points in only 9 games.
That being said I think King and queen or Mathews could sneak in at that #8 spot into the playoffs. Neither may want it but I think it will be those 2, Lancaster, and Northampton for the final 2 spots. Maybe throw in WP and make it for the final 3 spots

I'm the one who did the stats and entered them, so I know for sure they weren't inflated. Kid is all over the field and he had over 50 more tackles than the next closest teammate. He's not a superior athlete, just a kid with a motor that is second to none.

I've mentioned Mathews and K&Q for all of the same reasons in earlier posts. Within the Tidewater District, Mathews lost the least number of seniors and are returning the most juniors and seniors from last season. KQ has a good chance to compete with WP this season due to WP losing a couple of 2-way impact players as well as a 90+% turnover in the Varsity coaching staff. WP had no off season workout from November to Junel and only 5 or so Varsity players have attended off season workouts regularly. WP will probably be bringing up most all of their 10th graders from JV just to field 20 kids and will probably bring up a rather large freshman to fill the thin O-line and D-line. What WP has going for them this year are their seniors. Most have played football together on the same Tri-Rivers youth team (coached by last year's OC) since they were 6-7 years old.
