Any game not named Union @ Richlands would be silly for GotW.

A series that has these scores:
24-22
32-30
21-27
28-29
41-42 OT
28-27 OT
6-17
10-13

8 games decided by 27 total points. Three straight seasons when the game ended on the final play of the game.

There isn’t a better rivalry series in 2A.
That could be opinion only. Just saying the world does not evolve around Richlands.

I agree. There’s not another game on the Blues schedule I would say at this moment would be worthy of a game of the week distinction. But there simply is no better rivalry from an on-field standpoint in 2A IMO. And I think most who are familiar with the game would agree.

I would say no game more closely played. But I wouldn't consider an 8 year stretch to make it into a huge rivalry. Not when you have games that have been played for 40+ years. But some of those games also aren't 2a vs 2a

They’ve only been a school for 7 years. (Played twice last season). So this has been a rivalry between the two since the schools inception.

4 years in a row!

2013 - Pick six as time expired to win a tie game.
2014 - touchdown to tie as time expired. XP to win.
2015 - XP in OT after Richlands' XP was blocked.
2016 - Failed 2 pt conversion in OT

You would think that, but it has absolutely turned into a rivalry. After 2011 and 2012 were so close, it set up the last play win in 2013 to really push it into that "can't miss game."

It's also very respectful. No bad blood or sportsmanship between the players or fans. Whether we won or lost, I've had great conversations with Richlands' fans(total strangers at that) after the games.

Not saying it isnt a rivalry, just saying that less than 10 years probably doesnt equate up to being the best rivalry. Nothing against the teams or the games

I know. That’s why I’m staying strictly by the on the field results. Bluefield/Graham is one of the best rivalry’s in the country. But Bluefield has won something like 73% of the games (that number may be a tad off). I know what you’re saying. I’m just pointing out that through 8 games, it would be hard to find two teams separated by only 27 points. It’s truly a marquee matchup in SWVA. Perhaps top 2 with Graham/Bluefield.

I completely agree with that
