Seven years later the 2009 Essex Trojans have been voted by you the fans of 2A/Division 2 the Tournament of Champions victor.
The 2009 Essex Trojans were 14-0 that season and opened the season with three shutouts in the first five games and allowed just 25 points in that five game span. An 8-0 win over Gretna in the state semifinals that year proved to be the slimmest margin of victory and a week later they shutout Radford 30-0 to claim the state championship.
That season the Trojans outscored their opponents 587 to 128. They were the best that season and seven years later they are again on top.
