2A West Realignment

Under the 24-region realignment plan, each of the VHSL’s six classifications would be split into four regions instead of the current two and conferences would no longer exist.
All proposed changes must be approved by the VHSL Executive Committee, and the realignment is pending any changes in classification caused by enrollment in 2016.
Under the proposal, the regions would be as follows: (I'll list 1A and 2A for now). Also, some schools are requesting to move Up/Down in class or out of region.

1A
East (16 schools): Colonial Beach, Charles City, Chincoteague, Essex, Franklin, King & Queen, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, Northampton, Northumberland, Rappahannock, Surry County, Sussex Central, West Point, Windsor.
Mid-East (11): Altavista, Appomattox Regional Governor’s School, William Campbell, Carver College Career Academy, Central-Lunenburg, Cumberland, Galileo Magnet School, Stonewall Jackson-Quicksburg, Luray, Rappahannock County, Riverheads.
Mid-West (14): Auburn, Bath County, Bland County, Covington, Craig County, Eastern Montgomery, Fort Chiswell, Galax, Highland, Parry McCluer, Narrows, Radford, Rural Retreat, George Wythe-Wytheville.

Ft. Chiswell (probably) and Radford (almost a dead lock) will move to 2A Central when the new numbers are updated. Also, Grundy will likely drop to 1A far west.
How is Goochland still AA? They have over 800 students.
The cutoff is 775 I believe. They must have been below it as of last years numbers. Some of these things may change when the new numbers come out in April.
I think that maybe Prince Edward and Randolph Henry should be moved to Central to balance regions out pertains to number of schools.
Where did you see that they had over 800? Is that posted somewhere? Last I had heard, they were well below 800, but could be wrong.

It must have been the 773 numbers that I was thinking of. Thanks for sharing this information.
Looking at the numbers Grundy should drop. Ft Chiswell has 509 students and radford 495. Galax has 539. Why isn't Galax moving up?
That's a good question. I hadn't thought about them.
