Folley is a monster, Durrett, Louderback, and Davis are physical speed demons, Neale is making all the right reads and throwing on the money, and Cville's defense played much better against Champe. I'm going with the upset.
I hope so

Hey guys - one thing I will mention here is what Jefferson Forrest did to Woodgrove's defense last year. I bring it up because CVILLE will bring a very similar offensive scheme to Purcellville. Some might say it's apples to oranges - and I know these are different teams and different years, etc. - but Woodgrove does what they do defensively regardless of opponent. There's a lot to be said for that - being really good at doing what you do - but the beauty of these types of offenses is that they require you to adjust defensively and maybe do some things a little differently or they will gash you. I saw the Woodgrove - Jefferson Forrest film from last year and Woodgrove did what they do and got gashed. On the flip side - Woodgrove did get gashed last year and maybe they will make the necessary adjustments.

I saw some film of Woodgrove. Their top WR, Mason Gryniuk, is an absolute beast. Mike Kovich can THROW man. I am a little worried about their defense. I have a feeling Folley is going to be hard to stop, Champe tried and failed. Even if they do slow him down, we've got 3 other RBs (Davis, Durrett, Louderback) that can do tons of damage. I think it's going to be a very high scoring affair, but Woodgrove's depth will help them. My honest pick:
Charlottesville 35
Woodgrove 42

But since I'm a BLACK KNIGHT

Charlottesville 43
Woodgrove 42

#blackknightnation baby

I know a lot of people are picking Charlottesville but I cant see them stopping Woodgrove's offense. I say Woodgrove 35-27

I honestly don't think a 4 loss team is going to come to Woodgrove and beat us.

I get that Charlottesville is on a roll and peaking at the right time.

I am concerned that Woodgrove could come out flat due to the bye week; a bye week that we have never experienced.

Woodgrove is the healthiest it has ever been going into the playoffs.

We have 25+ seniors who have been on these playoff campaigns for the last 2-3 years.

Our offense will score on C'ville. We shall see if C'ville can run on us, not many teams have even tried.

I think Woodgrove wins 45-28.

Turnovers, penalties and special teams could decide the game?

Hopefully Woodgrove can continue to tackle well or it could be a long evening.

Should be a great game!

Tom Potter honestly...I agree with everything you say. I honestly don't believe you'll be able to shut our run down, but our defense has been struggling. I think we will be able to score but it will mean nothing if we can't stop you, and you guys are experienced, so if it comes down to a close game, I've got y'all. Woodgrove is the best team we've played all year.

Just 1 common opponent, both games were played over 2 months ago. Charlottesville lost to Dominion 37-15 in the 1st game & Woodgrove beat Dominion 24-14 in Week 4. I know Charlottesville has won 3 in a row, but Woodgrove has won 10 in a row. Woodgrove has spent the last few years playing 2 or 3 games into the postseason, whereas Charlottesville is usually fighting just to get in. I hope Charlottesville does well, but they are fighting an uphill battle, good luck Black Knights!

Scrimmage Play's preview
Region 4A West Quarterfinals: No. 8 Charlottesville (7-4) at No. 1 Woodgrove (10-0), 7 p.m.

The Basics: It was pretty obvious last week that John Champe wasn’t exactly sure how to stop Charlottesville’s option attack. When the Black Knights are playing with confidence and getting the job done on that side of the ball, they’re flat out tough to stop. The option could end up being the Black Knights’ trump card as not too many teams run it, making preparation particularly tough for squads that don’t see the Black Knights each year. Of course, on the flip side, Woodgrove is coming out of a bye week where they had a chance to heal up and prepare. There’s no question that this is a challenging opponent for the Black Knights and that they’ve got some serious work to do after a long bus ride. Woodgrove is averaging 46.9 points per game and the last time they were held under 48 was mid-September. Still, the Black Knights have been on fire lately, so there’s reason to think that if the same version of the Black Knights shows up Friday, Woodgrove is going to face a serious challenge of their own.

Key Matchup: Charlottesville’s secondary takes on Woodgrove’s passing attack. The Wolverines’ aerial assault gets a big lift from Mason Gryniuk, a 6-foot-2 receiver who led Loudoun County with 927 receiving yards in the regular season. That’s going to be an interesting matchup for the Black Knights who have given up some significant yards at times against passing offenses like in a win over Western where they surrendered 223 yards through the air. The Black Knights will need Rakeem Davis, Tre Durrett and company to play big-time football in the secondary. Throw in a Sam Neale pick like they got against John Champe and Charlottesville will be in it with the Wolverines.

Who to Watch: Charlottesville’s Sabias Folley. With 1,089 yards of rushing and 18 touchdowns, Folley has truly emerged as one of the area’s best power backs this year, and in the triple option he’s got the potential to give Woodgrove fits. Plus, if you load up against him, Lorenzo Louderback or Rakeem Davis can fry the Wolverines on the edge. You’ve got to play great fundamental defense against Charlottesville and Woodgrove is capable of it, but that’s easier said than done.

The line: Woodgrove by 10. Group 4A teams that are unbeaten at this point in the year are generally the real deal, but the Black Knights are red-hot and with the right breaks could steal one here.
