Salem, PC,GW and AmherstSalem, GW, Pulaski, and Amherst
I surely hope soAmherst will compete with Salem in the coming years. Got a chance to watch their JV team, oh boy, those kids are going to be special if they continue to work and get better. Could be the Amherst of the 2000s again.
The freshman class at Salem this year is the most talented that I have seen in a very long time. Could make for some great games in the future.Amherst will compete with Salem in the coming years. Mike has shared the highlight film of some of your studs. Salem’s future looks like what we’re all used to. Maybe faster, a little bigger and better. Scary! I’m seeing Louisa has quite a few young studs too. The Region will be very good. The freshman class at Salem this year is the most talented that I have seen in a very long time. Yeah, Peyton Lewis is already like 6'1 185 RB/LB and would have been one of the fastest 8th graders in the entire country last year if they had a full track season. Jaelyn Allen is a 6'2 215 freshman FB/LB and he is legitimately one of the best freshman LBs that I have ever seen.Mike has shared the highlight film of some of your studs. The JV team has had three of their best players out with injuries (Including Lewis) and are still beating everyone badly.
I will need to check out Louisa too.
Deuce was a little banged up and I think they took the opportunity to get DaRon some Vars experience. Deuce was still able to play some at WR. I would imagine things will go back to the way they were this week and for the playoffs. I think next year DaRon will probably start so that Deuce can play both ways. Just my opinionAny thoughts on the QB shakeup? Just from what I can glean it seems like the right move and he's going to do good things. Was wondering if you'd seen/heard more, though.
Mix of both. Botty is really really good and playing them first game was really good learning experience for GW.Did GW have a big turnaround this season or easy schedule? Or is botty just THAT good
They are the definition of old Amherst football. It is literally 11 hats around the football all the time. No fear, no selfishness, work hard and they WANT to hit their opponents in the mouth. The defense is better than the offense. They have to figure out the QB situation though. They have 3 good ones. Also the RB situation, they have a whole stable that run hard. Time will tell but I dont think that group lost alot coming up through the little league either. The last time that happened in Amherst, we all know what happened!I surely hope so
I’d say both. Got two of their best players back a few weeks ago and they've made an immediate impact. I’d personally like to see GW beat the breaks off of the teams they’re playing. Need to establish that mentality of dominance. They also need to focus, stay off Facebook and Instagram until the season is over. Pulaski County in the first round will be a big challenge. I think GW could possibly make some noise if they’re focused and continue to play good defense.Did GW have a big turnaround this season or easy schedule? Or is botty just THAT good
I watched the full Northside/FC game. FC is good, however they would’ve had similar results had they played Salem, Pulaski and in the regions. Wayyyy too much arm tackling. I’m surprised Botty didn’t put up 80 on them. All I know is Franklin County was undefeated
And Botty hung 55 on them

Coach Abell was the best. The players loved him as well as the fans. They are the definition of old Amherst football. It is literally 11 hats around the football all the time. Who do you see in 3A beating LB
Yeah, 3A is going to be a bear starting this fall. From Region A, If they can get past Hopewell, Both Phoebus & Lafayette has Talent enough to give LB a good game. In the Fall, i'm told Lake Taylor will be Class in3!!!
3A in the fall is looking like 4B is. To win the region is like a state championship,Yeah, 3A is going to be a bear starting this fall.

Like many older urban areas, the population is on the decline. LT has been the target of their own school board for years. There was a plan to convert the school to a special purpose school, (trades?), that would have affectively ended all athletics.Wait, what? LT is moving down? Did they rezone or has their area been dropping in population or what?

DevilsB99, can you add more details?
For the past 10 years, Lake Taylor always has about 30 players max on their varsity team. Last year I counted 27 at Varina. I didn’t realize how weirdly located it is until I moved to Richmond and started going to the 757 frequently. The school is right on the VA Beach line and it’s 6 minutes away (without traffic) from Norview. They have a very small zone to pull from.Interesting, I would have never guessed. I guess looking at the other public schools in Norfolk it seems like LT and BTW take a smaller slice of the population pie compared to Granby, Norview, and Maury.
Brookville and Heritage can beat LBThe only team in 3A that has a shot at beating LB is Hopewell. But sadly, they will possibly be on the outside looking in.
I could see Brookville giving them trouble but not Heritage. Definitely wouldn't put any money against LB.Brookville and Heritage can beat LB
Apparently DaRon didn't play tonight so look for him to start tomorrow night. He's doing a great job and I like not having Deuce play both ways while at QB. @1MoreHokieAny thoughts on the QB shakeup?
