The same cats like to cry when people bring race into the equation but the undertones in the posts are why they’re called racially motivated. Nobody is trying to be “woke”. Fact, you and many others villainized Ty White and the coach up at Hayfield (not you but some cats that liked your posts) and compared them to some vile people. A coach in NoVA even compared Hayfield’s coach to a child predator simply based off of “cheating allegations”. You compared Ty White to Ted Bundy.. You’re a smart man. W&M grad and I’ve followed your posts for years and enjoy them. It’s easy to call us out for bringing race into the equation but let’s also look at why?
You and I both agree that AAU is playing a big factor on these high school basketball programs’ success. If you ask me, high school ball is trash because of this AAU phenomenon. Back in the day, you’d have maybe 100 AAU teams in America and they were all highly competitive. Now there’s at least 7 in areas like Richmond, Tidewater, & Northern VA alone.. That’s 21 AAU teams in the state and we haven’t even talked about the 2-3 in Roanoke, Danville, Lynchburg, etc , each.. Too many hands in the pot and too many wannabe coaches out here. AAU is fine and dandy if P4/pro development is taking place but I’m old school and like team camps and high school summer tournaments where it’s helping teams get better and developing the younger guys for in game experience.
How do you think Radford, Martinsville, Brunswick, Lee Staunton, etc became state powerhouses? Numerous kids to big time schools? Dang sure wasn’t because of AAU!
