5A TOC Champion 1996 Hampton Crabbers

It took two days of voting but we have our 5A Tournament of Champions champion and it is the 1996 Hampton Crabbers by just one vote!

That Crabbers team has been talked about many times as being one of the greatest in the history of high school football in the state of Virginia. I was unable to track down their schedule or stats for that season, perhaps someone familiar with that team can follow up to this.

Regardless, they were the best of 30 state champions since 1986 and twenty years later they are back on top.

How do you argue with an offense such as this... 7 regular season games where you scored over 60 points! No team in the playoffs held them to less than 44! 7 shutouts in the regular season and one in the state final!

The Crabbers were definitely playing a different game than that played by all the other teams in the state that year.
