Definitely an outstanding player, and one of the very best to don the maroon and silver.
As good as he was on the football field, the memory that jumps out to me about Light is his stretch of dominance in the state basketball tournament in his junior season of 2012-13. He and Matt Hill found their groove just in time, and formed an unstoppable low post combination in leading Salem to the state Division 4 title. For his massive size, Alex was quick, and had a deft shooting touch around the basket and from the line. That postseason, no other team in the state had any answer for him.
