Coaches recently gathered to select the All-Region 3A Football Teams for 2021.
Chosen as Offensive Player of the Year was Phoebus WR Kymari Gray, who heads into the Class 3 State Final with 37 receptions for 686 yards and 17 touchdowns. Of his first 13 catches on the season, 12 went for scores. He's also made four touchdown catches along with a pick-six during the postseason.
Named Defensive Player of the Year was Phoebus LB/DB Donald Gatling Jr., who has made five interceptions with a pair of pick-sixes during their season-opening win at Lake Taylor. Gatling came to Phoebus after spending his junior season as a member of a Lafayette squad that captured the Class 3 state title last May.
Selected as Coach of the Year was Jeremy Blunt of Phoebus. Blunt is 100-19 overall since being appointed as the Head Coach of his alma mater during the 2012 season. The Phantoms are playing in the State Championship game for the ninth time since 2001, and with Blunt at the helm, for the second time in four seasons.
