Amelia Academy led from the start and easily defeated Christ Chapel 79-64 in the VISAA D3 Semi-final. The Patriots had four players in double-figures and they led by double digits for most of the game.
Christ Chapel, who were making their fourth straight State Semi-finals appearance, could not buy a basket in the 1st quarter scoring only four points on free throws. They did not score their 1st field goal until the 6:51 mark of the 2nd quarter as they trailed 21-6.
Amelia Academy opened the second half like they did the first using a 9-3 run to extend the lead to 46-25.
Morris Williams provided a spark for Christ Chapel dishing off for four assists in the 4th quarter while making two big steals to cut the lead to 10 with 3:42 to go. Amelia Academy was able to make enough free throws in the final eight minutes going 15 of 21 from the charity stripe to keep Christ Chapel at bay.
Junior Max Morrow led the Patriots with 20 points and 11 boards while sophomore Kam Harris added 17 points. Senior Korey Turner chipped in 15 points five rebounds and three assists. The Patriots big man Imrane Amadou (6-foot-8) had 13 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
Bridesmaid Christ Chapel was led by Taylor Brletic who finished with 19 points, three assists and three steals. Senior Joshua Darville had 14 points and 10 rebounds while freshman Domenick Bailey added 15 points and two treys.
