First is was Thursday at 7pm, then Saturday at 1pm at Wanner Stadium, now it Saturday at 1 pm at Bailey Field next to York high school. So much for the home field.first home playoff game ever moved to neutral field for Lafayette. Yippee !

Not verified but heard Booker T doesn’t have school on Thursday so they can’t play that night (what??), Warhill has their playoff at Wanner on Friday nite, Wanner on Saturday is booked for something (really??), last option was going to Bailey a half hour away on Saturday. Virginia still has the archaic rule of no games on Sunday which would have been an option at 1pm at Wanner. Just a mess. Why so many changes?
You are correct but that was due to an ice storm that Saturday. VHSL made an exception for safety.Correct me if im wrong. Appo played for State Championship in 2017 on a Sunday.
That actually doesn't sound too crazy. Similar situations have happened in Lynchburg with Heritage and EC Glass using City Stadium. Not verified but heard Booker T doesn’t have school on Thursday so they can’t play that night (what??), Warhill has their playoff at Wanner on Friday nite, Wanner on Saturday is booked for something (really??), last option was going to Bailey a half hour away on Saturday. Only half a million? You think schools have half a million dollars just lying around????
THAT is the DUMBEST rule EVER!!!!Not verified but heard Booker T doesn’t have school on Thursday so they can’t play that night (what??),
For the field and 2 sets of 10-row, LL type bleachers, yeah.Only half a million?
You got me! I asked our AD for further details and was he was tight lipped and wouldn’t give any info for the unusual changes. I will say it has to be very strange for the defending state champion (Lafayette) not to be able to schedule a first round playoff game in their own home stadium.Do they have school on Saturday? Why would no school Thursday preclude a game, but no school Saturday does not?
actually Richmond has the same rule as Norfolk regarding that. You got me! I asked our AD for further details and was he was tight lipped and wouldn’t give any info for the unusual changes. What ever happened to Lafayette’s old football stadium before the Wanner days? I remember watching them play Liberty in I believe a 3-0 game. Cooley stadium/field?Not verified but heard Booker T doesn’t have school on Thursday so they can’t play that night (what??), Warhill has their playoff at Wanner on Friday nite, Wanner on Saturday is booked for something (really??), last option was going to Bailey a half hour away on Saturday. It’s still there and used for JV games. But due to renovation of the middle school next to it the visitor stands are gone now. Only the original and small home bleachers remain. Nice grass field still. With no visitor bleachers not applicable for varsity games any longer. What ever happened to Lafayette’s old football stadium before the Wanner days? It's a beautiful grass field! Ridiculous situation for your Rams. Kind of fits in with the COVID "thingy" unfortunately. It’s still there and used for JV games. I’m still trying to fiqure out how the Athletic dept. fumbled the ball on this. But the reasons are being withheld like it’s top secret. It's a beautiful grass field! Ridiculous situation for your Rams. Kind of fits in with the COVID "thingy" unfortunately.
in 2009 Amherst played Christiansburg on a Sunday because of Snow that Saturday. It was the semi-final game. You are correct but that was due to an ice storm that Saturday. VHSL made an exception for safety.
It all depends on what localities and their school boards feel is important. If they want it, many can find a way to make it happen. The 5 schools in Spotsylvania County now have (or are getting) new turf fields. In addition to each having their own top notch field to play their games on, they are hosting state field hockey and other fall championships this weekend which was made possible due to the turf fields. They don't get all the gate (though they get something for hosting, I think) but they do get the concessions and local schools don't have to travel for a change (there are several local schools in Spotsy, Stafford and Fredericksburg that are regulars in the state field hockey tournament. You think schools have half a million dollars just lying around????
I posted this on the SW board NINE years ago...It doesn't cost that much to build a stadium and you can earn more money for having games at your school.
My estimate to start from scratch on land already owned…, it would take in the neighborhood of $3.5 million. That would not include significant parking area improvements. And that is almost assuredly on the low side. The storm water management systems alone could easily be $750,000.I posted this on the SW board NINE years ago...
"Madison County school officials decided to spend $350,000 to replace the corroded Eddie Dean Field at Booster Park bleachers at Madison County High School's football field. The project will also expand seating at the stadium by 360 seats - it will go from the current 740-seat total to 1,100 seats."
That includes a new press box, since they basically removed the old bleachers and put up a new grandstand.

Wonder what that costs now????
You DIDN'T want lights, a scoreboard, a concession/restroom building, PA, fencing, goal posts, or a graded/crowned field with that... right???
Lafayette got upsetSo, did this game get played today? I’ve not seen a score.
They still made it to the playoffs. I'm sure there were highpointsBooker T won 24-22. # 1 RB for Lafayette,Adrian Warren did not play. 1,000 yd rusher. That killed a Lafayette. End of a very disappointing season. Between the injuries, transfers and defensive woes a forgettable season, completely !!!
Congrats on yet another fine season! Just take some time off to regroup, get the returning young guys in the weight room, get refocused and get ready for next season. The Rams will bounce back. They always do under Coach Andy Linn. Again, congrats you all were Bay Rivers Co-District Champs!Booker T won 24-22. # 1 RB for Lafayette,Adrian Warren did not play. 1,000 yd rusher. Agreed, Coach Linn and his staff always prepares those young men. Rams had the injury bug carried over from the spring season and some early on this fall, they'll rebound. I wouldn't expect anything less. Hard not to respect the Rams when everyone expects them to be at the top of the district every single year as far back as I can remember (Bay Rivers anyway...Peninsula District days was a different story).Congrats on yet another fine season! Thanks for the comments!, this season was unusual though, the 61 points given up to KW set the most in a game since entering the BRD, the total offense against Warhill was 62 yards, also the lowest game total since entering the Brd, the number of +15 yard plays given up by the defense (a Lafayette stalwart ) was the most since the Brd as was yards given up per game ( yesterday was a dismal 393). All the regulars like me waited for the defense to jell, it never did. The pass game was excellent, great QB, but kinda disappeared the last 2 games which perplexed a group of us ( less than 10 attempts s game). I’m probably too critical but my thoughts on a different kind of season for Lafayette.Agreed, Coach Linn and his staff always prepares those young men. However, the transfer storyline is played out though, they have more coming in than they have going out. I wish they would drop it already.
