Not including drewry mason, carver, laurel park, that's a whole other discussion. Binky smith, Stanley zigler, garland zigler, shawndale zigler, Evan penn, Jaq Hairston

Jumper was very good, he was in a very good backfield. A ton of weapons on that 2002 team. But if I had to vote I would vote for Evan Penn. He was an absolute stud

Well I'm torn cause I played with Evan and shawndale, watched Stanley as young kid and he would just bust people up bad, 21-22 trap up the middle look out, I remember seeing him drag like 5 people for 10 yards, Evan the same way, I bet Evan could suit up right now and get 200+ yards , never seen jumper play, was that when they ran like the single wing or whatever

They ran the wing-t offense in 2002. Buck sweep, trap, lead, inside reverse, waggle pass, didn't have many plays just ran them all very well. They beat Heritage in the regular season but lost to them 34-27 in the state semis. Wouldn't have mattered though since they would've had to forfeit anyway but I would have to agree that this was overall probably the most talented team ever at MV. Last years team is a close 2nd but the line play of the 2002 team was better. Just an old guys opinion, some may not agree

You can't forget Louis Taylor and John Lighteau!!! That was an amazing combo backfield.. Both had 1500+ rushing yards in the same season and In my opinion, How can you not put Jaq Hairston in the equation? True enough the talent is not the same as it was back in the day, the size difference is a big drop off, but you have a kid who rushed for 2300+ yards in a Spread Offense!!! No full back to lead block for him, just zone blocking and a reading QB so as a running back in the spread offense, alot of times you have to make something happen out of nothing.Numbers don't lie you have to respect that. I heard alot about the pioneer backs that started at MV and I respect that but we have to consider the new school to go with it.

What about the backs at Drewry Mason and Carver as well. I know the post says not them but i'm curious to know.. Who were the top 3 backs that played at Drewry Mason and Carver which those schools merged to form Magna Vista?

I love the way jaq Hairston runs, he has great vision and always falls forward when tackled, great rb and great kid

Even though I was young, I remember Alexay Hairston. Kid was as talented as they came, football and basketball. Signed with JMU and haven't heard about him since. Can't forget about Johnathan Williams who was very very good, even though he played QB.

You are right about the 2003 team, not the most talented but big on heart. Made it to the state semis only to lose to Wm. Fleming 13-8. Q. Preston, DJ Preston, C Dillon, Smallwood and Duffy ran the wing T very good. Only 2 losses that year were to Fleming, 1st game of the season and the last game, both in old Victory Stadium in Roanoke. As you said a very gutty team. Also Eric Spencer was on that team and he was a very good running back

Darick Thomas was actually the starting Full back but dislocated his shoulder beginning of the season only to come back a few games later and it happened again so he had season ending survey. Darick was a big fullback 6'1 about 235 lbs

Darick was a stand up Defensive end actually lol. I know a few years back someone said he said he'd wish he hadda just played LB instead but regardless he was another beast on that team.

Mv, the only one I remember doing that on a regular basis was Ron Foster, played around 01-02. Seemed like he knew everybodys snap count
