Game Recap Blue Ridge Returns to title Game

Blue Ridge will get a chance to defend their VISAA D2 State championship after defeating Carlisle for the 4th time this year by a final count of 57-41. Clemson commit Scott Spencer scored 15 points and Canisius commit Malik Johnson added 13 points for the Barons.

The 1st half was very low scoring as expected in a matchup of two teams meeting for the 4th time. Carlisle led 9-9 after the 1st quarter and Blue Ridge doubled up the Chiefs to lead 19-15 at halftime.

After being shutout in the 1st half, Spencer took control in the second half scoring the Barons first five points to give Blue Ridge a 24-17 lead. Aamir Simms scored his 1st basked via a 3-pointer from the top of the key to extend the lead to 11. Two more layups from Simms gave the Barons a 38-23 lead late in the 3rd quarter.

Spencer added 10 more points in the final quarter as the Barons cruised to a state championship game appearance. Spencer finished with 15 points four rebounds and four steals. Johnson controlled the game throughout and finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Simms added nine points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Carlisle was led by Rasir Bolton who scored 9 of his 13 points in the 4th quarter. Senior Yesid Mosquera three points and eight rebounds. Junior Gabe Osabuohien had six points and 11 rebounds.
