Vaughan with a layup and Jayden Williams with the follow up and now Lee is up 25-8. 2Q 4:36

Welch with a Wilson 3 just before the buzzer, and Hornets are back in this at halftime 31-24.

Wilson finishes half on 10-0 run.

Lee High on a 17-0 run, leading Wilson 57-38 3Q 42.6

Everrett Castle with 6 points in a row to increase Lee lead over Wilson 73-45.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Robert E. Lee 84, Wilson Memorial 49.

Dominating win to open up season for Green Hornets.

Jarvis Vaughan with 28 points for the Leemen.

Hard to believe the score was 40-38 Lee in the 3rd Quarter.

Hey pizzzzza. Actually it was 40-38 midway through the 3rd, and Lee went on a 38-7 run over the next 8 minutes to lead 78-45 midway through the 4th. Jayden Williams had a good game considering he just finished football last Sunday. Lee would bump up their lead only to see Wilson come back a few times. I think Wilson finally ran out of gas.

Oops - my bad - typo!

When Lee turned it on they were unstoppable. Give Wilson Credit though...they really fought back after being down 29-8 on the road to get within two. Lee certainly has the ability to get back to Richmond but as the old saying goes...one game at a time.

Next week Lee travels to Luray and then hosts Fort Defiance and Riverheads.

I think expectations for this particular team need to be tempered for the moment.

There are a lot of new players - fortunately, there are enough key parts back from last year to help along with the process - the chemistry is there - just might take a while to achieve.

By mid season, we should have a good idea of how good this team can be.
