Franklin 41 Lancaster 34 Final. First trip to the state championship for the Broncos since 1993. I told folks this team was for real.
I'm sure the Lancaster players and coaches are going to agonize over this one for a while. They had 2 long scoring droughts. Had 17 empty third quarter possessions and sank less than 50 percent of their free throws on the night and were still within a point with 2 minutes to go. Give credit to both teams defense for the low offensive outputs. Lots of 3-pointers attempted by both teams and only 6 combined went through the rim.
Agreed. Both teams were challenged putting the ball in the hoop! Many many turnovers; however in the back of your mind, you were expecting that Lancaster “magic” to show itself; but of course it never materialized.

Everyone counted you out this year, but you proved them wrong. Deep down, you know you should be in the state final. In big games, you can’t afford to beat yourselves—and unfortunately, that’s what happened Friday night. Franklin wasn’t impressive at all; it was the unforced turnovers on fast breaks (I counted at least six), the missed free throws (at least ten), and that brutal stretch at the start of the third quarter where you missed ten straight shots. It was just the wrong time to have your worst game of the season.
You should have beaten Franklin by ten.

It's ok to be a fan but don't act like your best players missed the game or you beat yourselves it's disrespectful just give grace and keep it moving no time to justify it is what it is. Nobody expected neither team to be here unlike our counterparts out west. Y'all ran Altavista out the gym. One player scored 25 points by himself. Mayne defense wins championships offense wins games. Lancaster was held to 34 points in four quarters. Franklin is comfortable playing in muddy waters ( low scoring games).
Come on man. Dont be that guy. Franklin came to Lancaster and held them to 34 pts. Franklin is just the better team. Great game from both and a show of unity in the end
Be for real!!! Franklin is not a better team like I said Lancaster beat themselves.
What was that commition all about that happened about 10 minutes afer the game ended? Practically everyone still in the gym rushed he exits. And I'm not talking 10-15 people. I'm talking lots of people
I said in earlier post it was going to be a dog fight and it was, congrats to Lancaster for getting to the semi- finals. Coach Cutchins and his team knows how to get it on defense in a tough grind it out game. Congratulations on the win and best of luck in the championship!
I am surprised to see Franklin go this far. They only beat Buffalo Gap at home by 25 in the regionals and out here everybody bombed the Bison by 30 and 40 points just about every time out. Even the two teams just above them in the standings (Waynesboro and Riverheads) handled them without much trouble.
If you took a look at the schedule that Franklin played this year, it wouldn’t be a surprise. They took their lumps by losing to a bunch of class 4, 5, and 6 teams. In their district they lost to class 2 state qualifier Greensville in two competitive games. They play a physical brand of basketball and haven't lost to a class 1 team all season. They will be the underdogs against GW, but they won't back down and if they can make it an ugly game and get it to the 4th quarter and it's close, then they have a chance. Personally, I'm not surprised they're here. In fact, I predicted them to win their region and make it to the state championship.
