BRD Pre-Season Rankings

New to this site. Wanted to hear some thoughts on the Bay Rivers District. In what has been a Lafayette dominated district for a very long time, it seems like some competition has been renewed. That said, here is my pre-season ranking:
1. Lafayette
2. Warhill
3. Smithfield
4. York
5. Tabb
6. Poquoson
7. New Kent
8. Jamestown
9. Grafton
10. Bruton

Curious how others see it. Have a great start to your seasons!

I see Warhill and York near the top. I’m not sure about Smithfield. I feel that Lafayette graduated too much talent and is too inexperienced right now to be the favorite. The best coaching staff for sure. But their top QB graduated and a good part of the O line is gone as is the top RB Adrian Warren. The defense was not up to the usual level last year and I’m not sure the experience is there yet. The first game is against King George who this year will be a solid contender in class 4 will determine quite a bit. Two weeks until that.

Good points. Lafayette is definitely young and inexperienced. However, I think they are going to play with a chip on their shoulder. Losing to a cross-town rival for the first time ever will do that. Coaches will really have to teach and grow these young guys up in a hurry. With QB Hanson gone (UVA baseball), I think we may see a return to traditional Wing-T offense. WR/DB Pretlow (Navy committ) is a game changer and the best player in the district. Need some guys to step up on the OL. Had a couple military kids from overseas move into the district that I'm hearing good things about. Defense will rebound, certainly a down year last season.

Tough opener for sure vs KG. They have D1 talent all over the field. Scrimmage tonight vs Menchville at 5:30pm! Looking forward to learning more!

Imo; they need a solid runner at QB now for the wing T to be really effective as the passing game will be way down this year. As such Pretlow who is one of their best players for sure is “wasted” at WR on offense. Not big but needs to be in the backfield to run wide and screens, just my opinion,
