Brentsville District has been filled.

This is an interesting move considering his motive for leaving EV. Seems more like he was forced out now that this news has broke.
Brian Lowery will forever be owned by Vern Lunsford. Hopefully Sherry can build up Culpeper. Every coach I’ve spoken to has told me those kids aren’t playing for Joy.

That will never happen. Culpeper has never beat EV for a reason. I wonder what these new transfer rules are that everyone is talking about.

EV also had one of the better coaches in Virginia at one time. He’s been at Battlefield for going on 7 years? The 8th graders in Culpeper get to choose where they go to high school and I think we’ll see a shift soon with Joy there. Could’ve started sooner.. Lot of people don’t realize that Clatterbaugh was close to transferring to Culpeper after all the drama took place. After the other party left, he stayed put.

I believe this was year 5. I work with one of his parents and that is 100% not true on him transferring to Culpeper. What is true is he almost sat the rest of the season to focus on going to Tech but the Culpeper thing is not true what so ever.

They are capping to save face bro. When he and Will went at it, they were thinking about him transferring if Butler didn’t leave EV. Will refused to do the extra sportsmanship stuff and went to that VA Academy bull jive and Clatterbaugh stayed put 🤣 I’ve gotten this info from the horse’s mouth. Somebody’s lying!!

Sounds like it. There would have been no benefit for him to have went to Culpeper. There’s no benefit for any athlete to play at Culpeper in football either. I think it’s pure speculation on future players wanting to play for Joy. That is still to be determined.

Yeah I believe EV has mismanaged a lot since Hatfield left. It’ll be interesting to see this new regime these next 2-3 years.

In 2 years, Sherry has been shutout 5 times and scored 8 or less 4 times. He can’t scheme an offense.

I believe that Brentsville has acquired a terrific Head Coach in Coach Lowery. His honesty and integrity are above question. He understands that football is just one of the avenues available for shaping and preparing students for life in adulthood. He leads by setting the proper example with the way he leads his own life. He is a devoted husband and father. Brentsville is fortunate to have him.

Honesty? He said he was leaving Eastern View because he needed to spend more time with family. That obviously was a lie.

I value honesty pretty highly. However, I also don’t think a coach should feel it necessary to explain the reason for their departure. I think most people know that “spend more time with my family” is just a thing to say. Not saying you’re wrong about this dishonesty, just don’t think any coach should be scrutinized much about the reason for leaving a program.

I just don’t understand why people don’t say exactly why it is they’re leaving. It’s not like they work for nuclear facilities or the CIA.

I agree that would be ideal, but I’ve also seen it happen where immature parents blast the coach when they’re given the honest reason. Seen it quite a few times. Sometimes a little “coach speak” is smoother than sharing private reasons.

“I’d prefer to coach at Brentsville” is going to rub some people the wrong way because you are implying that there are issues with the community where they choose to live. It’s really no one’s business why IMO. If HS coaches were well-compensated, maybe then they should owe some sort of explanation.

He’ll make at least $10k more in PWC. As I get older, I definitely want to be compensated for my work but I also find myself asking is $3-$4k more really worth it in some of these localities. BD isn’t a better job than EV and I don’t really think I’d enjoy dealing with NoVa parents.

I wouldn't describe Brentsville as having "Nova" parents. And I can 100% tell you his increase will be a lot more than $10k.

Brentsville is the only “rural” school left in the county. Many farms and cornfields cover that attendance zone. IMO he would be a better fit at Kettle Run if they decide to let Porterfield go.

Last I checked, Henrico was only behind PWC by 3 or 4 thousand $ for licensed educators so it’s not that much more (especially with that cost of living) unless you get an admin position. That whole region is tough. Great schools but a totally different can of worms dealing with those parents.

Just not a fan bro. Don't see him moving the needle much. Had some damn good EV teams and those teams were terribly coached.

I was only comparing to EV (Culpeper County). Should be an immediate $20k bump...plus the coaching stipend.

If you're a teacher with considerable experience, you can go to PWC from Culpeper and make about $40k more per year.
I’m not doubting you bro, but I compared some salaries in Culpeper and Richmond a few months ago simply cause I saw that $95k was the starting salary for the EV Athletic Director position. That same position at Deep Run in Western Henrico is starting out in the low 80s. Henrico/Richmond schools salaries are very comparable to PWC. You’re 100% correct though, with the tax base up in NoVA, they often get raises and the VRS bump is unbeatable.
