Catch or No Catch you be the judge ( link provided)

Had the receiver handed the ball to the official it would be unnecessary to ask the question. I'm not sure of the rule but I'm sure FB REF or WHITEHAT do.

I can't tell because I can't see through the receiver. On plays where I'm not sure, i look for other clues. Those clues make me believe he never had control of it and therefore no catch. The ball hits the hands high but he certainly doesn't control it there. He has to pull his hands down to the belt to try to grab it again, then the receiver turns so we can't see it, and the ball drops down at an angle you'd expect from a drop.

The biggest clue is that the guy who's looking right at it anticipates a catch and goes up with his hands, then changes his call. I'm sure he must have seen the ball was not controlled before it went to the ground.

It's a common mistake -- anticipating things that don't happen. That's why officials are trained to wait a second (or more) before giving a signal, blowing a whistle or throwing a flag. That's why officials know it's ridiculous to complain about late whistles or late flags. You MUST make sure that you saw what you thought you saw, or you can end up looking bad.
