Checking on Far West VA Posters

Lots of places still w/o power and/or phone... Grayson Co. still 97% powerless as of last night
Minor flooding in general, but a few places got hit, like Damascus (Holston HS) and Narrows.

We are slowly regaining power and cleaning up messes from the storms. As mentioned above Grayson and Damascus areas were hit very hard as well as the Tazewell and Richlands areas. Lots of schools still out because of lack of power or flooding of the schools.

I’ve seen video footage on the news from out that way and far west N.C. It’s crazy how much destruction that took place.

Narrows here, got power back today. 9.5 inches of rain on my weather station before we lost power noon Friday.

In our power region (AEP) 93,000 out of 1,049,000 are still without.

Too much water, and with the New River flowing north from around Boone, NC it brought theirs to all of us.

Still better than most south of us though.

My prayers are with all of you good people.

How bad is the damage in Galax? Did it flood the downtown area?

Spent a few of my elementary and middle school years in Dinwiddie

Thanks for checking on us!
Our daughter in Galax for a few years, and worked at Tri County. I developed a fondness of the town and the people.
Where did you live when down here?

McKenney for a year then Sutherland. Wish I would have kept up with some people but things were different back then lol
Not much changes in Dinwiddie. Whomever you knew are probably still around. DM me if you want me to check on somebody.

Power being out was the biggest problem here in Smyth County.

In Marion the Middle Fork of the Holston River came out of it's banks and caused a bit of problems in town and down in Chilhowie. The Apple Festival in Chilhowie was cancelled.

My wife's niece is still out of power down at the South Fork below Adwolfe.

My Mom and Niece's power came on late yesterday over in Broadford (Saltville)...The North Fork of the Holston came out of it's banks and several local creeks flooded. At one time my Mom was flooded in and blocked for about a ½ day.
