I don't know anything about Nottoway. What type of offense and defense do they have? Clarke can beat you with so many different weapons on offense. They can score quick or grind it out. Their defense will hit you in the mouth for 48 minutes. They have scored 501 points this year and Giving up 91 points to opponents. Insight and predictions please. It is playoff football now so anything can happen. I say the crowd noise will play a factor. Clarke wins 35-14

Ive seen Nottoway up close I can tell you if Clarke wins 35-14 punch the Eagles ticket to Salem. Nottoway may be the most experienced team in this playoff fielding 26 Seniors. They are big up front on both sides with long rangy recievers and DB's. They have a pretty good QB with a big arm and play makers all around. I think they are more battle tested playing Goochland, Buckingham, Lunenburg and 3A power Heritage who they took to the wire on the road. Havent seen Clarke this year but history says they dont fair well against teams from this area. I say flip the score around.

I've seen Nottoway up close and personal also…. I've seen Clarke on tape. If Nottoway is disciplined against Clarkes single-wing, Clarke might be in for a frustrating night. Nottoway is fast and physical with big play speed on offense… Beware….

Well--------I really don't want to get in a "war of words" as I've always thought this blog site is entertaining to say the least especially how it is mostly dominated by certain parts of the state or districts (which is cool).......I will have to pipe in with everyone thought Clarke was not very good last year when they handled RE Lee (who some people had winning a state title)(who lost on last second field goal to Heritage Lynchburg earlier in the year) etc. etc. Clarke won by 3 scores or more. Then Clarke lost to Brunswick 21-14 (Clarke lost its best player on the first drive of the game RB/LB) and got stopped at the inch line to tie/win game with under a minute to play in the state QTR finals. Brunswick game within an extra point of winning the state title. I'd be willing to bet if you were to ask Brunswick or Lee about them---I'd bet the comments would be different. Clarke has dominated the Bull Run for close to a decade which is no fault of their own and they have lost to teams such as Goochland/Buckingham/Brunswick/Gretna in the either the first or 2nd round of the regionals. In those games they have been in everyone except the Buckingham game a few years ago when they had Johnson/Koonce in the backfield. I would say that is nothing to be ashamed of.
Now I'm not saying Clarke will win or lose vs. Nottoway tomorrow but for them to get blasted just doesn't see to be the case as they are plenty good enough to play with everyone as they have done.
Good luck to the remaining teams.

Clarke might get throttled, Clarke might lose a close one, or Clarke might even win, that's why they play the games, but to call a high school team's fan base delusional, merely because they believe their kids have a chance to win, just isn't right. All fan bases support their teams/kids, its what is expected in 2A sports where the schools are located in small communities. So no, I'd say the Clarke fan base is quite realistic in what could transpire Friday evening, but at the same time, quite hopeful that the Clarke kids play their best, have fun doing so, and in the end, score more points than their opponent.

It should be a great game…. Two contrasting styles of offense…. Keys will be discipline and heart, as always…. Best of luck to both squads….

In all honesty this game reminds me of a game 3 seasons ago. Strasburg hosted Nottoway. Nottoway jumped out to a early lead but Strasburgs ground game wore out nottoway on the defensive side of the ball and pulled away.

I've picked Nottoway in this game, but since I have not seen them play, but only heard things on here about them and based on that I picked them. However, I am concerned by their loss to Appo, which to me Appo was really suspect this year. I know it was early in the season and teams change and improve, but definitely don't like that loss.

IMO: I think this game is going to be a close one within a point or two and Clarke may actually pull it out.

Sounds like Nottoway is loaded and should be a great game but I think Clarke will win in close one at home and punch there ticket to Salem.

Is this the state semi-finals? I thought there was a couple more rounds left.

If RHS is fortunate enough to win against King William, I am pretty sure they will at least show up and attempt to put some points on the board. I like the confidence though. Gotta believe in your team. Good luck to everybody and safe travels to all.

Wrong farm animal...

No one knows what will happen tomorrow night, but since you think you do, just be sure to admit you are wrong if Clarke wins.

Nottaway has very good defense that is capable of stopping the run game. Clarke must be able to contain there two defensive ends and middle linebacker to be successful. Couple of key players missing on Nottaways offense that could slow them some. Going with Nottaway based on SOS.Good luck to both.

Re: Wrong farm animal...

There is Bull Run football and then there is Big Boy Football...... There is a difference.

Re: Wrong farm animal...

First off didn't Nottoway get whipped by Strasburg and all I heard was strasburg didn't stand a chance. Second Clarke has played everyone tough except for buckingham. Plus clarke had major injuries to key players in those games and was still in the game against Brunswick last year.

Just got to Clarke. It is going to be a cold one 30 degrees now a hour before kickoff

Re: Wrong farm animal...

The goat is right, JRD is a different league than the bull run. But Clarke can't control the level of play the bull run produces. They can only play the teams on there schedule, beat them, and beat them bad...which they did.

I remember in 07 when Clarke dominated the lowly bull run and had to take a trip to a JRD team who hadn't lost a game in two years, was the defending state champ, had only punted two times all year, and had a D1 commit names DJ Coles...Clarke lost 34-28. 14-14 at half.

I don't reckon nottoway is in the same league as that goochland team.

But I'm excited for this game

Go eagles
