Coach Mac McConnell cruised to a win with 100% of the vote over Coach Lloyd Swelnis in the first round then got by Coach Josh Just with 66% of the vote.
Coach Gary Chilcoat on the other hand took 100% of the vote in topping Coach Randy Stokes and followed that up with 70% of the vote against Coach Rudy Ward.
Gary Chilcoat was at the helm of the Blue Devils when they were at the top of the region. Taking over in 1999 Chilcoat had the Blue Devils in contention for a region title annually posting a winning season every year he was on the job and making the playoffs 7 times. Chilcoat's Blue Devils won region titles in 1999-2000 and lost by 1 point in the 1999 Class 6 State Final. Chilcoat was 9-7 in the playoffs and 91-14 overall when he left the program following the 2007 season.
Of course Coach McConnell was the legendary coach at Lee-Davis who took the Confederates to a region title in 1995 but had them in contention for more year in and year out. In 24 seasons(1977-2001) Coach Mac had 18 winning seasons and made the playoffs 8 times where he was 6-8. Coach Mac finished his career with a 161-98-4 mark... the most wins among any Lee-Davis coach.
These two opposed one another 4 times and Coach Chilcoat came out on top every time.
