In a game featuring a lot of star quality, it was an unlikely hero who helped the Bruins to a 53-50 win over 3-time defending State champion Norcom. Bethel senior Dashon Coleman stole the spotlight scoring 11 straight points in the fourth quarter with some big shots and pressured filled free throws.

Coleman simply took over the game. He nailed a corner 3-pointer to pull Bethel to within two (39-37) of Norcom just before the end of the 1st half. He converted a 3-point play to give Bethel the lead 44-42. He extended the lead with two free throws at the 2:55 mark and then added two more baskets before ending his personal run with two free throws to give Bethel a 52-45 lead with 1:19 to go.

Coleman finished the game with 16 points and eight rebounds. Dajour Dickens added 12 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks. Senior Cam Bacote had 14 points and four assists while football recruit Jeremiah Owusu, who was sporting a Michigan State hoodie, had 11 points and four rebounds.

Norcom fell behind early as Bethel, who is known for having a tough defense, used a box-and-1 defense on Norcom star and East Carolina signee K.J. Davis who just scored 38 points the previous night against nationally ranked IMG Academy.

Bethel led 9-2 early but a breakaway layup by Towson commit Travis Ingram tied the game at 21 and a steal and layup gave Norcom a 23-21 lead in the second quarter. Norcom led by five at halftime and they held a 10-point lead (37-27) with under 3 minutes to go in 3rd quarter after a layup by Davis.

The Greyhounds were led by K.J Davis with 13 points, six rebounds and three treys. Ingram had 12 points and six rebounds while Darien Allison added 11 points and five rebounds.
