Is there some reason 34 finishes almost when 37 begins?

East region has a 16 team bracket where as west region only has an 8 team bracket. The east regional starts this Thursday. I think they also built in some days for weather. Remember also the state bracket is 8 teams this year, not 4.

Thanks for the clarification.

So....how does the state bracket work? Last year you got down to the final two from the East and West and they advanced to the state. With a 16 team field...do you just have to win two game to be in the state. On the West side you just have to win 1 game/ Just trying to figure out how the 8 team state will work. I know in years past the 8 team state tourney was always the way it was. Thanks.

Yes. That's exactly it. If you make it to region semis you advance to state tourney. That's for all classifications.
