1. Ok, time to do a redo and reconsider Region D. Richlands? Yep. Richlands.

2. Winning at William Byrd in a game I could GUARANTEE you that the overwhelming majority of Richlands fans felt they would lose, and probably lose by a couple of TD's.

3. Richlands wins. Why? The Coach of Richlands is very good and the program is still one of the better ones in 2A. Everyone gets that, but...…..they have a WR named Horn or Horne of which I found out by listening to this game on WGTH was injured during the season. Evidently, dude can play. It sounded like the dude went off against William Byrd and evidently, this guy is a game changing type of player. Also, this is the 4th time I've listened to the radio guy from Richlands. I like him. He seems like the kind of guy I would like to share some Croaker with caught from Messick.

4. A congrats is in order for 2A football for the folks from Richlands.

Now, with that said, let me revert to my norm and say that the folks from Richlands need not get a big head because I love doing battle with you on this forum! Additionally, if you run into the mighty-might Bull Islanders from "down east", we are going to give you the business as the ACC's Ron Cherry stated! Finally, the 2A Virginia Class is starting to getting some shape. Evidently, the boys from East Rock and those up on the "Ridge" in Region D are the real deal. Of course, Appomattox is legit and teams are a bit closer in dethroning them. Time will tell. Poquoson hits a rough stretch shortly as the Bay Rivers has some absolute beasts in Lafayette, Warhill (read about them and Paul Wheelers son and the turn around) and York which may be as equally talented as both of them. Now, I'm across the bridge tomorrow to watch as a neutral guy against the Game Turkeys and the Pride of the Tidewater Monarchs in what will be a 42-13 win for Virginia Tech, but as long as the fried oysters are flowing at the tailgate, I'm all in.

Good luck to all 2A teams in Virginia and prayers for those affected by the Hurricane.

Taylor Horn is Richlands WR, from what I gather well over 100 yards receiving tonight. He left Union game at or near the half, elbow injury IIRC.

Richlands is dynamic with him but def suffer without.

Taylor Horn - Richlands WR
7 catches 184 yards, 3 TD in 27-21 win vs. William Byrd

Hopefullly, Horn stays healthy from here on out or Richlands most likely won't go far in playoffs. Congrats on win tonight though! Captured some power points with this one!

Nice win for Richlands for sure. I'd say coaching had a lot to do with that victory. We will see how Byrd ends up, they still have the meat of their schedule to come.

I'd like to see Richlands establish a better running game and improve defensively, then I think you could list them as a contender. I'd say there are 4 teams in Region D that could take that crown, including Ridgeview, Union, Graham and Richlands. V-High is right up there too. Region D is wide open.

Ridgeview seems to have all the pieces together right now, but there is still time for each of those teams to make needed adjustments, it will be interesting for sure.

I agree Richlands defensive isn't what it used to be in previous years under Palmer's helm. Graham will have to step up their defense to in order to be in serious contention. I have no doubt we "could" beat Ridgeview, Union, or Richlands but we are still lacking the discipline needed to do it based on our past couple outings. Have we improved? Yes. Are we where we need to be? No. You cannot wait to playoff time to make adjustments. All this just my humble opinion.

The x-Ray picture of Horn’s dislocated elbow after the Union game will make you puke. I have no earthly idea how he came back 3 weeks later and went off like that. He had a couple of highlight catches that weren’t catches. He climbed the ladder a few times and caught passes but they came out as he landed. That may have to do with the elbow. But they would have been SportsCenter type catches had they been completed.

Richlands still has work to do. Passing game is getting better. Moir needs to hit some of His open targets a little better. Run game is inconsistent. Defense has its moments of greatness followed by youth.

This Friday vs Bluefield will not be pretty. If they were a VA team, they’d be the favorites in Class 2. They won’t be challenged until they get to a state semi or final in WV AA.

After that, the schedule opens up a little more. A county rival in Tazewell that’s getting better. Winnable games against Marion and Lebanon. A sneaky tough game with Virginia High and the 2nd half marquee matchup with Graham.
