Congrats to the Essex kids, fans, Coach Jones and his staff on a dominating performance yesterday to win the Region A title and gain another shot at the King (King Casto and his Riverheads football dynasty).

Wow, 14-14 at the half, then Essex explodes for a 60-28 win!

Congrats to Rappahannock on making it to the Region title game for I think the 1st time since 1992! It was the biggest size wise Raider team I've ever seen. Gaines does return so keep lifting.

I was there for the 1st half. We saw lots of old friends and former students.

Man, when I left to run errands etc. at halftime it was a 14-14 battle.

(I listened to the 2nd half on the great WRAR radio broadcast of Rich Morgan, Bruce Thomas and crew.)

Man, I was planning on coming back by start of 4th but it was over so I kept going.

I looked a couple rows below me and there was former Essex superstar and now D-II superstar at VU, Sterling Hammond and his sweet Mom and sister. Hammond was there supporting his old school and his nephew who is a bad a-- footballer as well (plus, I like them punts!).

Best of luck to Sterling as he goes for the dream of playing in the NFL. Focus only on that goal and the glory will come.

aint it the third year in a row playing for the region title, all 3 vs rhs, and I think the score was 22 to 22 at the half, but winning 60 to 28 either way was impressive, should be a good game on sat GO BIG RED

I thought that the radio said it was Rapp's best year since 1992.

Last year, Rapp lost badly I think to WP early in playoffs (in a shocker to me).

Northumberland then defeated WP in an amazing, roller coaster ride of a game to advance to their 1st Region title game in like 20 years.

Essex won a championship battle v NHS (star Delvin Palmer was reduced to a non-factor) in the rain and mud. The field still seems to hold the scars even with lots of work.

So two new Region A runners up the last two years - but the champ remains Essex.

Essex won the last 3 Region A titles.

2018: Essex over Northumberland
2019: Essex over Rappahannock
