At least from a distance, it appears that Virginia’s football program is paying greater attention to southwestern Virginia and specifically the Roanoke Valley.

Dylan Crawford from Lord Botetourt became the third senior within a 20-mile radius to commit to UVa as a recruited football walk-on.

Crawford, who earlier had committed to William and Mary, flipped to UVa after a visit to Charlottesville that coincided with a Cavaliers’ practice this past Saturday.

Also committing to the Cavaliers this past weekend was Salem High School defensive back Nick Wade.

Glenvar’s Josh Clifford committed to UVa during the winter.

Wade and Clifford were first-team all-state defensive backs in Class 4 and 2, respectively.
