Contenders This year?

Yes they did. But everybody goes to Richlands so figured it wasn't much news.

Richlands doesn't need another lineman, unless he can run a 4.4 and tote the rock, because they have a serious deficit of speed this season. That being said, I think Richlands will have to be a ball control team this year and have a good run game, which they should be capable of.

Not exactly a "round" Robin when the vast majority of transfers end up at the school on the West end of the county.

Vhsl really should look at tazewell county it is a round robin of transfers

Graham has benefited from some transfers but have lost some key players due to transfer as well. Last year Richlands had a starting WR/DB & Tazewell had a 1000+ yard RB that both transferred in from Graham. The year before that their #1 WR at the time transferred to Richlands. The year before that Richlands starting qb (who got injured) came in from Graham. A few years before that the player of the year in the state of West Virginia was Graham's qb the prior year. This Friday Bluefield's starting QB played for Graham last season.

Graham also is in a unique situation being a border town to Bluefield, West Virginia. Players can move their address to the other side of the state line and be eligible to play in a different state.

Yes the team in the west gets Riverview taz and few other transfers
"Transfers". Hard to believe High schoolers would be acting like this. The instant gratification for people these days is out of control. Play for your community and school to make them proud for Pete's sake It's all about #1 now a days.

Yes all 3 schools have had transfers that have helped. Richlands doesn't recruit, they just happen to fill all their holes with very good players from the area every year :D

"RICHLANDS, Va. – Logan Justus said there was no secret behind his decision to transfer from Hurley High School to Richlands.

“I wanted a ring, a state championship ring,” Justus said."

“I want to win the state championship, and I felt like this was the greatest place to do it,” he said.

Clearly academics is the goal here.

For Clarke looks like sophomore Rutherford will start at running back and sophomore child's will start at quarterback with junior Baylor and senior Lawson splitting time at wing back.
Is Rutherford #21? That dude was a stud in the backfield tonight v.Dominion.

I know we're all looking at this from the point of view of football fans. I'm sure some of these moves are motivated by football, but let's not assume they all are. Families do move. Parental situations change. My son's brother is about to attend his fourth different high school in four years. He's neither a problem child or athlete.

But nobody transfers in South West...Yeah right. From talking to people at the game when we came to Richlands, everyone hates Richlands out that way lol!
