Crowded defensive backfield at Lake Taylor perhaps with Bruton infusion?

With the recent transfer into the school by Oscar Smith's Keyvone Bruton, does this make that backfield that much tougher? To be honest, I said "crowded" since Lake Taylor as we know simply reloads so with or without Bruton the Titans would have another budding star outside of Wayne Davis (still remember Quinerly starting as a freshman for LT, and I figured there was some young, tough kid just waiting for his shot). DEVILS, anyone, insight on this?

Oh, good grief TBone. I thought you had some good news. Like, Lake Taylor had gone private and would no longer play public schools. Or that the entire student body would be studying abroad this coming school year. But no, you have to tell us they are getting ANOTHER stud. It's like talking to the filthy rich, when is enough money, enough money?

Seriously, good for them and I hope the kid does well. And if they get overcrowded, I know of a good little school just a little south and west of Petersburg that would take a few kids in.

How's the weather over there? And as always, thanks for your service and the sacrifices you make for our country.

LT was returning 3 starters #1 Davis, #2 Palmer, and #4 Wahee, but #14 Brian Trotman (soph) started against Dinwiddie and Monacan as Quinerly moved to LB for those games. With that being said adding Bruton (2nd team all state in 6a) was a huge get for LT. He holds so major offers including VT and will fight for a spot in the secondary with everyone else. One thing about the LT kids they love to compete and it will bring out the best in all of them. Look out for #8 Rashad Russell too this year as he saw a lot of playing time as a soph this season. TBone you were suppose to keep that under wraps, but I will say this this transfer kinda puts to bed the myth that kids would transfer to bigger schools from smaller schools for more "exposure" under the new classification system. No matter the classification if you can play you get exposure.

Going to take more than 1 kid and more than 2 years to evaluate whether that myth is put to bed or not. Nice get for the Titans. Will be interesting to see if anymore comes out on the 2(potentially 3) Smith transfers out as the door hasn't swung that way all that frequently for OS.

What's the purpose of the myth anyways? Is playing 6a mean you are a better football player?? Do you play tougher competition? I think of it as you play schools with like enrollment come playoff time and in a lot of cases 4's 5's and 6's play each other in the regular season. I think this transfer to player at a higher school myth is silly. How about K. Johnson who left 4a Caroline to go to James Monroe (3a) bottom line kids transfer to better situations not higher enrollments. The gap between your top level teams on the 4a-6a is not that big that it will require a transfer to play "better" competition.

I agree that kids primary purposes for transfer are to get perceived better situations. Wasn't that long ago that LT was in the upper classifications so you know what it takes to play there. The gap between 4A and 6A is smaller right now than it has been in many years but, that has not been the reality over time. The current condition is owing to the fact that the best 4A teams now actually came from the higher classifications formerly. One player and a couple of years doesn't prove the question one way or the other. You call it a myth, I call it a question raised as to how the landscape MIGHT change. To my knowledge it has never been presented as a fact which would require it to be characterized as a myth. It may come to pass that the line of demarcation in the future will be between 3A and 4A as opposed to the historical line between AAA and AA(classes 5 and 4 under the R&R). You know as well as I do that kids want to play the best competition and rightly or wrongly level of competition is one qualitative factor that college recruiters consider in evaluating prospects.

Ah man, Virginian Pilot broke the story. You're right about the classification thing. Crazy how Berkley, Campostella and the rest of the LT zone just has the hard nosed talent.

Man, LT BEEN rich, lol. Like I just posted, that program is another that doesn't need transfers. Just as folks might've been talking how LT will rebuild, I'm not seeing that this year either.

devils has it right. kids transfer because they want to win. With winning , comes opportunites to play beyond high school. Yeh situations play into that, but if your team is a perennial loser, chance are it's going to be hard to hold onto elite talent. Also , don't think these kids don't talk to each other. When I was in High School you were thought of as a terrible person if you ever crossed the tracks and played for the other team, however in these days with social media kids are friends with all the kids from the local schools. There is no sense of commitment or dedication to one school. it's about self gratification and " what has my school done for me" . Just a sign of the times.
