Cumberland County Public Schools varsity football season canceled for 2024-25 school year​

The varsity football season at Cumberland County Public Schools has been canceled for the 2024-25 school year.

In an official post on Facebook on Thursday, Aug. 15, Cumberland County Public Schools announced the decision to cancel the varsity football season for the 2024-25 school year.

According to the school district, the decision was made after “careful consideration of several key factors” including the number of players in the upper grade levels and the safety of the schools’ younger athletes.

Playing just a JV schedule is the prudent thing for them to do in this situation. But it sucks for their opponents who are now scrambling to find a game to replace them.
