The Lady Wildcats played possibly their best game of the season as they knocked off Conference 37 leading Gretna 54-44 on the Hawks' senior night. Dan River jumped out on a 9-1 run and let the entire game. Junior Alysha Walker poured in a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats. Soph. Camille Mangum had 15 points, while senior Breanna Seal had 10 points and 16 rebounds.

That loss probably cost Gretna the top seed in the Conference tournament as them and Chatham were neck-and-neck. Dan River will be the 5th seed and travel to Buckingham on Monday (most likely)!

Congratulation on the victory last night. I just heard this weekend that the Conference 37 leader was just as you say Gretna with a 15 - 5 record now 16 -6 overall record 3-2 now 3 - 3 Conference record Chatham has a 17 - 4 8 - 1 Conference record still have to play Appomattox Friday night at Chatham. Can you tell me the web site where you can find how the points systems works. Use to be pretty simple but in todays world things get complicated. If you or anybody else can I would be grateful. Thanks

Dan River has a pretty updated site. Here is the boys and girls standings.

Thanks Mascot, If I did this right if Gretna and Chatham Win Friday Night Gretna will have 5.952 Points and Chatham will have 5.909 Points. So Gretna would be top seed go figure. Playing in your conference doesn't matter just go play 4A schools that aren't very good and win to get more points.

Power ratings for basketball:
0 points for a loss against a 1A team.
7 points for a win against a 1A team.
1 Bonus point for a win against a 2A team. (7 + 1)
2 Bonus points for a win against a 3A and above team. (7 + 2)
2 points for a loss against a 2A team.
4 points for a loss against a 3A and above team.

Add the total points for REGULAR SEASON games, divide by number of games = power rating. For 1A, from my understanding, whoever MAKES the conference tournament final (regardless of champion) will qualify for regional play. Seeding for regional play will be based on REGULAR SEASON power rating, Eight teams (4 conferences) qualify, top four seeds will host (doesn't matter who tournament champion or runner-up is).

Hope this helps.

That's not how conference 37 works. Each conference has their own system. Conference 37 is a 2A conference. You get 7 points for each win. For a team with a higher classification, you get 1 point for each class higher than 2A. Example if you played a 4A team and lost you would get 2 points. If you won you would get 9. Add your points and divide by how many regular season games played and you have your rating. Buckingham played 22 games. Won 11. Did not play anyone with a higher classification. They had 77 points. 77 divided by 22 is 3.5.

That is very similar to what we use except ours is capped at 4 points for loss (to a 3A or higher) and 9 points for a win (against a 3A or higher).

Understand that there will be differences. I would think 1A East will be as I described since regional tournament rankings will all depend on regular season power ratings.
