Five of the eight Region playoff spots are filled after the Hampton Crabbers defeated the Woodside Wolverines 2-1 in the Peninsula District semi-finals. The Crabbers win, combined with Menchville's 8-0 win over Kecoughtan, earned Hampton their first trip to the Eastern Region tournament since 2008. Peninsula District Player of the Year Steve Hux pitched a complete game and he also drove in a run for the Crabbers who will face Kellam on Memorial Day.

Menchville will find out their first round opponent when the Beach District tournament resumes play on Wednesday. The Monarchs will face either Princess Anne, Salem, or First Colonial.

It's been two weeks since the four Eastern District teams have played a meaningful game due to weather. The Eastern District tournament hopes to get their semi-final games completed on Wednesday with Granby facing Lake Taylor and Maury taking on Churchland. Lake Taylor already has a ticket to the Eastern Regional tournament and they will play the winner of the Great Bridge-Western Branch contest tonight.

Ryan Bennett threw a complete game shutout to help Western Branch defeat Hickory 3-0 while Great Bridge advanced to the Southeastern District championship game with a 9-4 win over Nansemond River. Great Bridge and Western branch split their regular season series.
