Essex vs Grayson County

There is a solution for every problem. I'll ask the AD at Salem if a couple of Salem JV players can join Essex for the the game.

Essex played GC in 2003 Championship. The week before essex played James Monroe. Some argued JM should have been D3. 2 years later JM was moved up to D3. The AD at JM complained and wanted JM to stay at D2... anyway.
To your point above, for the players, they can only play the teams they are scheduled to play, for the fans, root for your team. The rest is for someone else to figure out.

Dang don’t know what all the worries are about numbers. Fasten your chin straps up and play football.
If your first 2 sentences were true (and they arent-they are hyperbole and fallacy) but if they were true and you stand by your word based on your first 2 sentences, then we need to get rid of classifications. "Strap em up Rye Cove, go play at LCA or Hampton or Lafayette." " Stop crying and worrying about numbers for goodness sake and just play football."

An no, the smaller schools haven't "wished" for more numbers. What they have "wished for" is schools with Class 2 numbers who have absolutely no barrier or restriction in travel to actually play in Class 2.

Want to know what hundreds of non-Grayson fans in Salem are thinking when they see a Grayson hat or shirt on Saturday? Many of them are thinking COWARD. Is that Graysons fault such as the kids on the field or 98 percent of the Grayson fans or band members or cheerleaders? Of course it's not their fault, but it is the fault of your former AD and a few fans and a few admins. Literally, the other 3 fanbases with Essex, Graham, and Strasburg in the back of their minds are thinking....Coward. Lastly, 99 percent of Grayson people are good and honest humans like most other places in Virginia, but your not helping yourself by incredibly seeming to argue or minimize that poor actions taken by the very small few from Grayson that either are in charge or were in charge.

I can assure you of this. You will get your wish with Essex and not having Essex worrying about numbers. You are going to get taken apart.

I’m sorry I irritated you. I have no dog in this fight. Nor do I give a damn who wins. I’ve coached in 1A small and large, 2A large and small, same with 3A and 4A as well as finishing in 5A. Now I’ve coached in both Va and TN. My point was numbers are controlled by governing bodies in the states. As coaches, very few gave a rats behind about numbers. We just prepped and worked our butts off trying to come up with a great game plan. Left the worries like that up to others. You can call Grayson officials cheaters or anything else.you wish. Some school divisions redraw district lines to accommodate numbers. Some graduate X number students at end of 1st semester or send students to specialty schools in the division to lower enrollment in a particular school within the division. Happens all the time. As for as Rye Cove, I’m sure they are satisfied playing their schedule as is. Not everyone has the luxury of being located in an area with a substantial amount of the appropriate division schools to fill out their schedule. Some schools have no choice but to play larger schools simply because of the geographic location. So my point is play the game and let the chips fall where they may. Good luck to both teams tomorrow. Sad thing is not many people will remember this game 10 years from now, 20 years from now except those who are on the field tomorrow either as a coach or player. I’m going enjoy my day tomorrow, out here in Tennessee with my buddies watching the Army/Navy game. Oh yeah, all are currently coaching or have retired from the profession. And there may be some non coaches named George, Jim, Jack, or Evan in attendance. 😂😂😂

I don't know what "everyone is crying" means. I had no idea every Class 1 fan in Virginia was literally crying related to Grayson. That's a lot of people. Ease up on the emotional hyperbole.

Anyway, for the few people that did address concerns, they are legit. They have cut offs for a reason. It's not 1 or 2 or 5 or 14, the cutoff number is the number period.

But the real reason why some complained? Your former AD lied. He put in a hardship appeal for Grayson to play Class 1 instead of Class 2. Grayson has essentially played the same schedule currently as they did for the brief time they were formerly Class 2, so declaring hardship/travel issue is simply....A LIE. People don't like liars. That's why people complained. If Grayson had a radically different schedule at present compared to when they were formerly Class 2, then it's reasonable to possibly argue hardship, but their schedule is not radically different and it's obvious that travel/hardship was a claim that was based on a LIE. That's why some complained and the should have.
Don't forget the part where the superintendent threatened a lawsuit if Grayson was put into class 2 instead of class 1.

1. Point 1 You didn't irritate me. You asked a question which implies in any normal social interaction that you desire an answer and I gave you the honest answer. I think it was my answer that irritated you.

2. Point 2 You NOW state that numbers are controlled by governing bodies. That's another fallacy as you just changed your original point. The original point you made was.."who cares about numbers." There's zero need for you to explain numbers and school population if "nobody" is supposed to care about them.

3. Point 3. You talk about working your butts off. That's great. Good job.

4. Point 4. You stated I called officials in Grayson cheaters. That's a lie (similar to what your AD did in Lying.) I called SOME (a very small few) cheaters and that's a gigantic difference from every person in Grayson County.

5. Point 5. You state again to leave the worrying about the numbers to the higher ups and the coaches not worrying about it. As the Head Football Coach, you should have input on a decision that effects the potential reclassification of your school. It's part of your job as being a leader as a Head Coach.

Final Point- we agree here some. You wrote reasons why numbers may be off such as early graduation or redrawing of school districts and used Rye Cove as an example and others for difficulty in filling out a schedule. All of those didn't apply to Grayson. Grayson appealed for hardship reasons. What's laughable? The powers that be at Grayson who filed the petition argued hardship. Incredibly, Grayson picked up Bluefield High, WV, which is an hour and 1/2 drove by school bus. What incredible hardship for poor ole Grayson.

Hyperbole? There are posters on here who have brought it up every single game they have played.

He also isn't my AD. I have no dog in the fight, just reading the boards.

There certainly have been 'Posters On Here" who have brought it up. There are also hundreds of posters who have NOT and far more have not as evidenced those who read the thread (which is shown) and those who dont post on it. Do you see any difference with your thinking cap in the above 2 scenarios? You used the word "Everyone" in your earlier post and the two amounts.........."Everyone" and "Some Posters on here" are two different amounts. Your statement was hyperbole.

Want more hyperbole where you incredibly seem to struggle with "amounts" or measurements? You wrote There are Posters on here who have brought it up "Every single Game." Really? All 14 games? Wow! That's incredible. I certainly did NOT see where Graysons appeal to play Class 2 and student pop numbers were mentioned 14 times in 14 different weeks. Why? Because it hasn't been mentioned "Every Single Week." You are using Hyperbole again which is a form of fallacy which stems from thinking being dominated too much by Emotion and too little rationality.

It's about the former AD at Grayson making a bad and cowardly decision in my opinion to appeal to play down. As for you having no dog in the fight? Perhaps you don't, but you have made 6 posts in this thread, so you certainly have some leashes ready to go, if in fact you do have no dog in the fight.

I agree with you on the kids at Grayson and pointed it out regarding no fault. It's not their fault and they only play who they are told. My critique has always and only been focused on the very small few/the powers that be at Grayson who petitioned to play down. Any critique of Grayson, if people have critique, should be directed at those who made the cowardly decision, not the kids, fans, etc. With that written, Because it's Not the kids fault doesn't absolve the powers that be at Grayson who appealed exempt from critique either.

They're going to get killed by Essex. At that point, I hope you can dislodge the stick in your butt.
