Flags killing Essex They could have been up another TD or 2. The 2 that gets me hot are the unsportsmanlike flags.Essex leads 14-0 at the half. It feels like it's a bigger lead than that. This game is being won in the trenches. Essex does need to limit the penalties, but other than that, it's been a dominant first half. Rapp gets the ball to start the 3rd, and they need some kind of answer if they want to get back in it
Seems like in the first half, every time Essex got positive yardage, a holding flag was thrown.Flags killing Essex They could have been up another TD or 2. The 2 that gets me hot are the unsportsmanlike flags.
Essex left no doubt today. Next week's game will be a tough one. Stone for Altavista is a load at RB, but the way this Essex defense is playing, they'll make him earn every yard. The only thing that worries me about Essex is if they're in a tight game or down and have to pass, because they rarely ever pass or even need to pass.I was skeptical before the game on how the defense would play but man, a lot of momentum and confidence after this big win. #2 and #4?? from altavista will be a tough challenge to stop but I’m a believer in this Trojans defense.
Buffalo Gap runs the single wing, whereas Essex runs the double wing. Obviously similar offenses, so Coach Jones will have a great film to watch to see how Buffalo Gap had success. And yes, having Holmes healthy this year, and Stewart, who is hard to believe he's just a freshman at 6'3 225 lbs. Hopefully the Essex fans will make the trip to support the TrojansBuffalo gap ran the ball decent against Altavista, I’m not sure if they have the speed to stop Essex. Last year Essex was limited on offense due to injuries when they played. #2, #6 and #3 for Essex will be new faces to altavista.
That play was definitely a huge shift in momentum, and it was almost immediately followed by the 89 yd TD run and it was game overI was at the game. It was tough to watch at times with all of the stoppages.
Essex was clearly the dominant team and it wasn't even close.
The key play was 3rd and Goal at the 1 for Rappahannock. The Rappahannock player dives to the Goal Line and lands on a defender while outstretching the ball over the Goal Line for a Touchdown.
The Linesman ruled the runner down short of the line to make it 4th and Goal at the 1. However, the player wasn't happy and said something and got dinged for 15 yards for an Unsportsmanlike.
That made it 4th and Goal at the 16 which Rappahannock would not convert. Essex scored on a long run after that and it was over.
In my opinion, you don't flag the player in that situation. I think it's pretty. It's a big game and a big moment.
Would it have changed the outcome if Rappahannock had scored? Probably not. But it sure would have made the game more palatable to enjoy and probably boosted Rappahannock's attitude and demeanor.
