Game 1: Boo Williams 16's Rally for OT Win:
While their 17-and-Under team did not qualify for the Nike EYBL Peach Jam for the first time ever, the Boo Williams 16-and-Under squad began play in the Sweet 16 on Wednesday night at the Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta, South Carolina, pulling out a thrilling 80-74 overtime victory over the New Jersey Playaz.
Nine different players scored for BWSL Chiz, led by Norcom Class of 2017 swingman K.J. Davis' 18 points. The 6-foot-6 Davis, who pulled in an offer at the end of June from Old Dominion, was 5-of-12 from the field and 7-for-8 from the foul line to go with eight rebounds and two steals.
Another Class of 2017 sharp shooter, Hampton's Marquis Godwin, had 16 points on 5-of-15 shooting, 3-for-10 from three-point territory, and grabbed six rebounds.
A difference maker in the second half was 2017 point guard Malik Marrow out of Cape Henry. Marrow finished with 15 points - converting on 5-of-11 from the field and 5-for-7 at the foul line - plus handed out assists. He also had two of the team's five blocked shots on the night.
Davis' Norcom teammate, guard Travis Ingram, chipped in nine points on 4-of-5 shooting. Jordon Riley, a four-star football recruit from North Carolina who's committed to Tennessee in that sport, also had nine points.
Boo Williams' 16U bunch - which trailed by 10 at the half in their Peach Jam opener - looks to go to 2-0 when they take on Team CP3 out of North Carolina in a Thursday matchup scheduled for 1:30 PM EST. Team CP3 lost its Peach Jam opener, 80-65 to Arkansas Wings.
