Score doesn't indicate how lopsided this game was. Warren County had something like -10 yards at the half. I arrived a bit late and sat on the Warren County side and found myself feeling bad for their players. The announcer sounded depressed in the booth and barely spoke even when Warren County made a good play, though he managed to hype himself up a bit when making sponsor announcements. Warren County's fans were jokingly cheering for Sherando at times and I've never heard that at a game, no matter what the score was. And it wasn't other Sherando fans sitting on their side.

Warriors played well, especially on defense. QB1 threw a couple floaters I don't think he'll be able to get away with against upcoming teams, but you take what's given. Really would like to get #25 back one of these days.

On a negative note, I was listening to the Millbrook/Kettle Run game on the way home and heard more politics than football. 105.5 needs to focus on the game, not idle chatter. I tuned in to hear the Pioneers doing their best to pull a big upset, not to hear about how divided the country is and how some random politician is doing a grassroots campaign.

How many tds did Carlson throw?

Three in the air, one on the ground, all in the first half. He was pulled before halftime when it was 44-0.
Gotcha. He’s a solid qb. I saw sherando play both Jefferson and Brentsville last season when I lived in Winchester. I could tell he has a good arm.

Yeah he's about as solid a guy as you could hope for. Smart with the ball and a good leader.

With this schedule , no business playing Warren County . With that said , the Handley game will be a big game . Handley has more speed and size than Sherando , Sherando being a deeper and more experienced team. winner takes the Northwestern. The freshman Handley QB might the fastest I have seen in a long time. Kettle Run a formidable opponent and still a threat but not what it was a few years ago. Not sure 25 is coming back now , heard some other issues needed taken care of.
This Sherando team is a good solid team, but in NO Way have the talent or speed of some of the better Sherando teams of the past 20 or so years. They are well coached , and are beating up on some teams that are not very good. I also have to take into account from what I am hearing is that you have to take into account the whole Region is not what it used to be this year.
I worry about a real awakening for them come playoff time , with only one game being a real challenge.

I had to chuckle about the fans cheering for Sherando. It reminded me of what Clarkefan told us years ago. Nandua made the long trip over from the Eastern Shore for a playoff game against Clarke County. There were a total of seven fans on the visitors side, and that included the bus drivers. The Clarke fans actually cheered for the Nandua kids when they took the field and whenever they did something good. Class act in my book.

Agree with this. I may be wrong but I’d wager to say Handley and KR will beat Sherando. Being battle tested early is critical for maintaining focus down the stretch on games like this one and I could also see Millbrook game being more competitive than some may think.

My fear with the lopsided wins is a Superman complex where they will start a game flat against a quality opponent and play catchup in that game to have a chance at winning. Hopefully coach has them focused.

I plan to go to the Sherando/Handley game in November when I go up to Winchester to visit a friend. That game should be a good game

If you plan to go to the Handley/Sherando game and would like to meet up let me know. Would love to put a name to a face and watch it together

I'll let you know if I'm able to. Work sometimes schedules me for Saturdays but I'm hoping I'll be able to get that one off.

I didn’t mean to sound to negative , I believe I would take that bet the other direction with Sherando winning those games this year . Millbrook is not even in the conversation.
This all started for me last week when the Sherando player was quoted in the paper , saying “ nobody will score more than 21 on us” . I am sure Rohrbaugh didn’t like that , but it is a kid ..lol

LOL, I bet the kid caught hell about that. It’s ok to believe that, you just never say it publicly.

UNC kinda did the same thing when they agree to pay JMU to play them. The unspoken meaning was we need an easy win. 70 points later… OUCH.

I too agree with being battle tested early, sets your team up for tough games later in the season. I would question though, looking at Handley's schedule and Kettle Run for that matter, besides having played each other already, where have either of those teams been battled tested this season. Handley has and will play a very similar schedule to Sherando, and one could say that their out of district teams were not to the caliber of what Sherando has played. Lightridge who Sherando played is far better that Harrisonburg, even though their record is not great, and Jefferson is much better than Musclemen this season.
With all that being said, you can only play who they put in front of you! I think a sign of a focused team is a team that goes into a game that everyone knows you should win soundly and then you do.
I think that the Sherando vs Kettle Run and the Sherando vs Handly games could easily go either way and that both of those games will come down to execution and controlling turnovers. Which i know is very cliche to say, becasue that can be said about any game, but i dont think it will have anything to do with who each team has faced early on because, none of these teams have had to run a gauntlet of tough games.

Agree Sherando has had a more tough schedule. With the scheduling being done mostly within district now days , it doesn’t provide good OOD test games . Sherando used to have tough games with Martinsburg, EV, Loudoun County , etc… those were the days, blowouts are not really fun to watch either.

How many OOD games do Sherando, Handley, Kettle Run have room for? Down here in the Central District we have 8 members so that means 7 district games and three OOD.
