It looks like that Danville guy was right about HSHS being a 7-3 team, but took a lot of hell for stating it.

HS played it like a meaningless scrimmage and it was disgusting to watch. Why the hell is the top OL for HSHS on a recruiting visit today? It was played JUST LIKE the TD scrimmage. 17 handoffs up the middle!!! Wtf?! I know The #1 seed for the region was already locked up,but I hate when a coach plays to “keep everyone safe”! Both teams will go down badly when it “really counts”.

Just a horrible football game that the entire East End should be embarrassed by 200 COMBINED total yds of offense. More penalty yards than yards gained! That’s pathetic!

At this juncture in a season (the last regular season game), teams should have most of the stupid mistakes worked out. Both team's defenses played pretty good (Varina's was better), but both offenses were riddled with mistakes (HS with 56 total yds. offense and about twice that in penalties). Varina had a little more offense numbers and nearly the same in penalties. It looked like they wanted this win more than HS.
...at this point in any season, these teams should be rolling like a well oiled machine. Neither one of these team are there.
Varina might not make it out of the Region in this very tough Class 4.
HS might make it out of the Region if they get better, not worse but, HS won't get past Stone Bridge this year. It's going to be back to back Titles for the Dogs.

Congrats to Varina on the win. HS looked terrible yesterday and most of the season. I thought they would have gotten better as the season went on. I was mistaken!!!!!! They looked worse yesterday than they have all season long! Varina deserved this win, they were the better team yesterday! HS isn't even the best team in the Capital District this year! SpringerNation is pissed from what I'm hearing through the grapevine!

I know HSHS fans don’t like the trend of the team right now. I can’t blame them and not sure if they could beat Maury, Green Run, or Stone Bridge with the way they are playing. However, something tells me not to write them off and they will find a way to piece it together. I agree the penalties need to decrease immediately and the kicking game needs a boost.

10 weeks in and the same as in game 1. I think they'll need a miracle. Yesterday looked like the scrimmage against Thomas Dale in August! Which we lost 18-6 and still can't hit an extra point! I think in the playoffs, they should go for 2pt conversions instead of kicking.

A little off topic but somewhat related. Football is down in the 804 this year. Compare this region to the 804 region across all classes 5 years ago. The difference is pretty substantial IMO.

You could also view it as certain other teams in the area are stepping up as well. PH-A shouldn't have been as bad as they were a few years ago, now they're back to form. Powhatan and Midlo are on the rise. Powhatan's RB is super tough, but I know he's a senior. Tucker has finally found a coach. The area still plays good football, it's just not your usual teams doing it all at once.

Well that is true but regardless, I think the top 10 from 5 years ago would crush this years. Dinwiddie is closest to form but the Dinwiddie team from 5 yrs ago is the one that made the state championship. My point is the mainstays are down and the newcomers are far away from the glory of the incumbents. Class 4 has a strong field Bc of consolidation but this class 5 field is the softest I have ever seen in the 804 that I can remember. If I am way off here someone call me out, but really think back the last 15 years…. Where?

They don't have to! It seems like everybody in the community that care at least a little bit about what's happening with the football program, are talking about it and scratching heads... I hope it's a case that this particular game just doesn't carry they weight the way it used to. It wasn't a do or die game, it didn't even carry seeding implications for playoffs for HSHS as it did for VHS (could be why VHS seemed a little hungrier?). Even thought District games don't carry any weight the way they used to, Varina is actually Capital District Champs 2021 (and that doesn't even count for anything).... but it really doesn't matter any more.... besides, your "die hard" Springer fans have gotten used to winning big games and being a dominant force. This season has been an eye opener and a bit disappointing. The best thing HSHS could do at this point would be to win another Title! Then things would settle down.
Now that I have calmed down a bit ( I was pissed Saturday and yesterday), I realize I allowed my expectations get in the way of my common sense!! I apologize if I offended any Springer coaches or players, but we as Springer (Highland Springs) community members and huge fans of the program, we have become spoiled by the success! Even though other teams in the area would love finishing 7-3, it is highly unusual for this to happen to HS's football team! Bottom line is WE are SPOILED and want our big winners back!

Absolutely! I'll always support in any way possible. The kids are the most important thing and as I previously said... expectations can sometimes get in the way of reality. Recognizing that is important for us fans/fanatics!
