Giles vs Graham

Graham scores after a lengthy delay for a Giles player injury. Player left in an ambulance. Prayers go out for the young man.

7-7

Man that’s awful. Please keep us updated if possible. Thoughts and prayers for the young man.

Considering how good Graham is, that is a very respectable score for Giles. Looks like they competed. Question to the Giles fans...were you impressed by Graham?

As a whole I was pretty unimpressed with Graham. No disrespect intended considering they won the game. I personally thought they would beat Giles worse than they did and the fact that Giles had several self inflicted drive killing events further surprised me. Graham has athletes for sure. They rely on big plays and that's how they scored on Giles. They are a top half playoff team but I don't see them making it to the title game without improvement.

I'm a Graham fan and I am still unimpressed with our defense at the moment. We're slow and undisciplined. Our line is weak. We've maybe improved slightly since Bluefield game but not much. Hoping they can turn things around.

I agree. Lot of youth on Graham's Defensive line, but they are trying to switch things around a little, I guess time will tell. But the defense needs improving big time. Offensively, they are very explosive and have several playmakers. With schools this size, you can't have it all. Hopefully, the defense will start performing a little better. I'm interested to see how they do against a more traditional offense, they have struggled against the Single Wing since they started playing Giles again a few years back. Bluefield has one hell of an offense and Tazewell hung 61 on Riverview the other night (I know it's Riverview, but still). Graham's defense hasn't exactly played against chopped liver. Still yet, it is really glaring that they need improvement. Dennis Palmer needs to be the D - Coordinator, even if it means hurting some feelings. That would be a good start.

For those that have been praying for the young man that was hurt and taken to the hospital during the Graham game, the latest update is a broken vertebrae in his back. Praying for a safe and speedy recovery, big loss for the Spartans.

Prayers for that young man.

Oh no. Praying for this young man and his family

Broken vertebrae, all you can do is rest. I've had compression fractures in my vertebrae from falling out of a tree trying to chainsaw a dead branch after a rainstorm. (Don't judge me). He'll be fine.

I don't know much about him personally or his coaching style. I do know he was DC at Richlands since 90s making Mance look a lot better because their defense always outshines offense even before Mance. Seeing how Richlands has been known for years for their stellar defense during Palmer's reign as DC , I would venture to say having Palmer help more with defense would be a win/win for Graham. He might bring help with discipline they're lacking. We're going to be hurting during playoffs even if we manage to squeak by Richlands & VA High. Heck, Tazewell & Giles played us hard.

Dennis Palmer has probably forgotten more about football than all of Graham's assistant coaches know about it put together. I'm not slighting Graham's assistants. I'm just testifying to the man's knowledge of the game. He is a true student of the game. I am no Richlands fan, but I'll give credit where it is due. He could make a huge impact for Graham, if they will just let him.
