Gate City girls top Sullivan East

Sarah Thompson pumped in 16 points as Gate City earned a 54-47 girls basketball win over the homestanding Sullivan East Patriots on Saturday.

Tori Powers (13 points) and Kayla Bird (12 points) also played well for the Blue Devils, who beat East for the second time this season.

Sullivan East (11-12) was led by the 14-point performance of Megan Ollis. Kayla Honaker added 11 points in the loss.


The contest featured a combined 68 free throws.
