Sarah Sondrol is hoping to make it a sister act this week. The Wilson Memorial senior is 10 points away from scoring 1,000 in her high school career. Two years ago her sister, Jordan Sondrol, now playing at Shenandoah University, also reached 1,000 points.

To put her in position, Sarah Sondrol had 29 points against Broadway last week, including 22 in the second half.

With three games this week, as long as Sondrol stays healthy, she will get the mark, likely on Tuesday night at home against Luray. Wilson coach Jackie Bryan hasn't talked about the possible achievement with her team yet, and Sondrol has tried not to think about it.

"I really haven’t thought much about it until people have started asking," Sondrol said, "but it still hasn’t been my main concern of the season. It hasn’t been a distraction yet, hopefully it won’t be. I want to focus more on our team goals."

Interestingly enough, if Sondrol gets the mark on Tuesday, it would be exactly two years after her sister got it. Jordan Sondrol scored her 1,000th-point on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Fort Defiance.

The younger sister, a sophomore on that team in 2016, remembers that game.

"I might have been more excited than she was," Sarah Sondrol said.
