It doesn't help that you have the best player from surrounding counties transfer in after talking with their parents. Their feeder system director is the main recruiter for Dotson and she does her job. She conducts the SWVA league and then encourages several parents and herself, to contact player in middle school to transfer to Wise. Union's Moore, Grundy's Looney, the list goes on. Basically Dotson is the old school version of JM that recruits at the middle school age instead of the high school age, which sadly is legal.

By best player, you mean McAmis? What school did she transfer from? I genuinely thought she’d always been a Wise student.

I keep saying it, it’s 2025. Amateur sports are big business. The days of playing with kids from Sunday school are over. This isn’t the movie Hoosiers, it’s now more like Blue Chips. My mans Beans said it best, “Get down or lay down”…

I may have misinterpreted what the poster was saying but I didn’t think McAmis was a transfer. I know Dotson gets transfers sometimes from surrounding schools but I don’t think it can be compared to JM. Right or wrong kids want to play for winning programs.

Getting a player or two here and there from a neighboring school is definitely way different than bringing in kids from Alabama, North Carolina, New York etc 😆

I agree that the days of past seem to be over though, with all the NIL in college, kids are going to go wherever they think they can get the most exposure and it's hurting these schools that don't have the big brand name like others. But i also agree, that it's completely unfair on a level like kwhs said.
