It is bro. Halifax playing GW tough tonight. I think Halifax is gonna give Glass and GW a run for their money getting out of 4D South.
Gretna must be pretty good after they split with Halifax. Pitt County has definitely changed over the years.
Good to see the south competing again. Gonna be some good playoff games come February. I see Salem 7-1 too.
On top of that just think the west is weak this year. That Glass/Varina year, Northside won C3 and PH Roanoke lost in C5 chip on a buzzer beater.
I think the biggest difference in C4 is guard play. Gotta have an elite guard like Glass had in Harris or Northside has in their two studs to beat the East. Varina will be extremely hard to beat when Kaleb Wyche is 100%, Monacan has Amare Cooper who I believe is the most underrated guard in all of VA and then you got Atlee and some very good teams in the east in Hampton Denbigh, Smithfield and Churchland. The guard play has to be good to beat those teams. In the West right now I’d go 1. Handley 2. Glass and GW 4. Halifax.
It’s A LOT better than it’s been. I just posted in another thread that Dan River may be the most talented team in the area but have been so darn inconsistent. Gretna looks really good and has done a great job of building off of their region championship from last year. Last but not least, I think Amare Word (Chatham) may be the best scorer in our area (arguable with Jameer Reynolds & Kobe Morrison). Chatham has a really coaching staff. Wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled a few upsets.
I got one name for GW guard play Micah Gunter plays at Greensboro Day 9th grade is the missing piece.
I’d love to see that bro but highly doubt it’ll happen. Micah will be a 4/5 star before it’s all said and done and he’s already the face of that Greensboro Day program as a freshman. GDS is playing a very elite schedule and is a top 50 team nationally. Micah and Isaac are both going to be high level Division 1 guys.
I saw Salem @ Northside a few weeks ago. Salem didn't have anything for them that night, but they do look better than usual. They beat CS and PH since then and they keep improving as the season goes along. I'm planning to be at Salem tonight for the Northside game. I'm hoping they've continued to improve. I've seen Northside a couple of times and they look really good for another C3 run.
What’s Albemarle looking like? Thought they’d contend with Woodside but I’m guessing not? They had one of the bigger teams I’ve seen in public school ball in a while last year and remember them being young (I know they lost the young man who signed with Vermont).
Albemarle for sure has the talent-wouldn’t be surprised at all if they end up going on a deep C5 run. They have size and athleticism-just still figuring some stuff out. One starter transferred in from CHS and they’ve got a bunch of rotation players who played on their undefeated JV team last year. Both of their losses are by 1 and 2 points respectively, but contending with Woodside might be a year away for them. Still super young. While they are pretty big like you said they don’t have a ton of good guard depth, but those guys will come along.
