im just saying enjoy your run while it lasts, seems as if you are. Goochland competes in many sports every year. We'll enjoy continuing as a dominant program while you ride your group of studs for one more year.
Really? When you have alumni on the cover of video games like Justin Verlander you can talk. To be a state title contender almost every year for ten years is a powerhouse program. Like I said have fun riding your studs for one more year, appomattox will always be remembered as the county that surrendered.
You're trying to make this post look like you're congratulating Appomattox but the overall content is sour grapes and belittles their accomplishments. Only one TD better? That's rich and lacking self awareness. Sure Appomattox will be average again one day but does that make Goochland better this year? Come on man, give Appomattox some credit. How would you like one of your 2012 opponents, that you thumped, to talk negative smack about you?Like I said Appomattox is good and the score board shows a big margin but appo is maybe one TD better than Goochland this year. I'd put the 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012 Goochland against that team today any day. Football has declined rapidly the past 10 years so if you feel good about what you have now, congrats.
Appreciate your post, as you had it half right. Your QB was getting hit all day, your RB's were getting hit in the back field. Onside kick was called right as it has to go 10 yards before you can touch as long as we don't touch first. Keep in mind we scored right before half but a bad call overturned. Thing is you didn't hear a peep out of Appomattox. Your D line was tough, as good we have seen. Our passing was off but I credit Goochland D for that. And to your last statement that we needed to be humbled, I don't think your will find a more humble team anywhere. I saw one poster of Goochland's say the winning streak ends today, while I agree it will end one day I am hoping it can go one more game.Appo is a great team. Goochland shot themselves in the foot many times and going into the playoffs I knew the passing game would be what killed Goochland. Our QB simply can't hit his WRs the pick six in the first quarter was about 10-15 yards from the only receiver in range and straight to the safety most other passes were just all over the place with plenty of time to throw. The onside kick that Goochland recovered that got overturned, the two fumbles on the first or second play on consecutive series inside appos 20 yard line in the second half and the appo fumble that ended in a penalty on Goochland that brought them to the 3 yard line took the wind out of Goochlands sail. Goochland only allowed 1 touchdown on defense in the first half and that was with great field position. Offensivly Goochland couldn't get much going because they are so predictable and don't have a QB. Defensively I think Goochland showed up until they realized the game was over. Hats off to Appomattox they are tough but hope Richlands has the opportunity to humble them next week.
Think what you want, as it really is starting to sound like sour grapes. appomattox has a very good football program and has for awhile, actually a long while. Keep playing your soft schedule and you will be continue to be there.im just saying enjoy your run while it lasts, seems as if you are. Goochland competes in many sports every year. Contender.....that's what people say when they can't when it all......I laughed, all that counts are Titles. This Appo run reminds me of the Vic Hall days at Gretna, no one could touch them.Nah Goochland has been a contender since 2004, can't say the same for appomattox. Enjoy your time while it last.
Several comments on this; First the onside didn't go 10 yards? Secondly Appo's #14 scored a TD when he fell on the Goochland player and never touched the ground. Appo had numerous dropped balls's at least one would have been a TD.Appo is a great team. Good comment G-Dog2 and all Respect for Goochland's team...they had a great year and were respectful players on and off the field; that is a tribute to great parents and coaches.I think petty things have been said on both sides. I have chosen to take the high road. To be an elite (consistent) program for better than a decade, great coaching is the biggest key (Goochland is 131-32 over 12 years). Championships come when the combination of great athletes and size come into the same year. Appomattox has a great combination of coaching and players. If Goochland had played their best game of the year they could have kept it a more respectful score but Appomattox has too much top to bottom this year. Now, some of the posters posting about Appomattox and Goochland have brought an arrogant element to these posts. It does not bring a favorable light to Appomattox or Goochland's fan base. I know for a fact that when Goochland went to two title games in a row (won 1 title), our fan base on here never dogged or belittled any opponent even after a win (Essex) when everyone said Essex would crush Goochland. As for the Appomattox football experience yesterday. What a great crowd, team and experience. A lot to be proud of. Good luck to both teams next week in the championship game!
I actually thought yalls crowd was pretty decent. Yall was loud as well until the 3 TDs in 3 minutes happened. I think it was pretty dead after that.I agree, wish we had a bigger crowd. It wasn't bad but we have had much bigger crowd's. I think our fan's have been somewhat spoiled. When our program made a turn and became competitive for a title (starting in 2005), it looked like what Appomattox had yesterday. Very loud and very proud! We've made the playoffs 13 (not difficult with current format) years in a row and I think the fan base has become a little stagnant. They were pretty loud for the amount of people that were there though. Appomattox fans have EVERY right to be pumped and excited! You have a great team. As a Goochland fan, it is easier to take a loss to a team that was just better than us. The loss that hurts the most are the ones you feel like you should have won...
I saw it, thought it took being disrespectful to another level. Sometimes you just can't talk to ignorance.Did we all just ignore this? Im not a history major, but did the county surrender or was we the county the surrender happened? Just saying....
I thought you had a good crowd also, I liked all the signs and posters. As a fan from the opposite side it makes the cheering from both sides get louder and prouder and no signs were disrespectful. Your fans were good for the most part. 1 or 2 fans got a little crazy but hey everyone has that (even Appomattox unfortunately). Your coaches were very classy and good as well as your players. I didn't think bad of your coach either on the unsportsmanlike penalty as it happened at a time when you really needed something good to happen and it looked like a bad call was getting ready to happen with a fumble call but II don't think he realized at the time a personal foul overruled any fumble that may have happened. I have seen a number of teams come in over the last few years, some have won and others have not but Goochland left me with a good impression of their fans, team, coaches and players.I actually thought yalls crowd was pretty decent. Yall was loud as well until the 3 TDs in 3 minutes happened. I think it was pretty dead after that.

GaitorBait1988, your response to my post is petty. Adding little digs like slammed and shot in the foot is really not necessary. I'll give it to you though, your good at what you intend to do. I have nothing to do with what other posters post on these boards. I personally do not care for what was said this week by a couple of Goochland posters this week. I think people get emotional when they feel their team is not given due respect. I have been nothing but gracious in victory and defeat on these boards for years. I have given my honest opinion about the game and I will always try to show class and respect not only for my team but every team that competes in the VHSL. Every community loves their team and every coach and player puts in hard work to represent their school and community to the best of their abilities. In the grand scheme of life, how people react to victory and defeat shows what kind of person a person is. Enjoy the success of your team.
