Goochland vs appo

im just saying enjoy your run while it lasts, seems as if you are. Goochland competes in many sports every year. We'll enjoy continuing as a dominant program while you ride your group of studs for one more year.

Anything to try and get the upper hand on a team that just busted your head today. Goochland definitely didn't compete today, well at least not in the same class with Appo.

Like I said Appomattox is good and the score board shows a big margin but appo is maybe one TD better than Goochland this year. I'd put the 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012 Goochland against that team today any day. Football has declined rapidly the past 10 years so if you feel good about what you have now, congrats.

Like I said, anything to try and tear down Appo's program and promote Goochland's. Accept your butt whiping today and hey, when you beat Appo in softball, get up and beat your chest boss.

When you have alumni on the cover of video games like Justin Verlander you can talk. To be a state title contender almost every year for ten years is a powerhouse program. Like I said have fun riding your studs for one more year, appomattox will always be remembered as the county that surrendered.

When kids are the ones playing, it all goes in cycles. Coaches simply luck out when they have a class or two come through that excel at the sport and bring athleticism and speed. Great coaching can always take your typical group of kids far, but certain things showing up with those kids are just up to lady luck. Perhaps the Appo coaching will remain in place for a long time and keep them at a high level, maybe not a dominating one, but still a significant playoff contender, similar to what Goochland has accomplished over the last decade.

Goochland06, you are not from the area so you might not know the back story of last year's season so I'm giving you a pass. The community was struck by a string of tragedies and the local football team was a rallying point for us to come together and pray for healing and support. Coach Smith and the Raiders gave us all something positive for a change.

Coach has provided such a great atmosphere here. The lessons he is teaching our kids goes so far above making touchdowns. These guys will be our future leaders. They are seeing how faith can be a guiding principle in life.

What you are seeing in Appomattox is the results of a great Youth Football program. We are reaping the success from the hard work put in for the past 5-6 years.

I think everyone here can see how petty you are acting by the comments you post here.

You're trying to make this post look like you're congratulating Appomattox but the overall content is sour grapes and belittles their accomplishments. Only one TD better? That's rich and lacking self awareness. Sure Appomattox will be average again one day but does that make Goochland better this year? Come on man, give Appomattox some credit. How would you like one of your 2012 opponents, that you thumped, to talk negative smack about you?

Appo is a great team. Goochland shot themselves in the foot many times and going into the playoffs I knew the passing game would be what killed Goochland. Our QB simply can't hit his WRs the pick six in the first quarter was about 10-15 yards from the only receiver in range and straight to the safety most other passes were just all over the place with plenty of time to throw. The onside kick that Goochland recovered that got overturned, the two fumbles on the first or second play on consecutive series inside appos 20 yard line in the second half and the appo fumble that ended in a penalty on Goochland that brought them to the 3 yard line took the wind out of Goochlands sail. Goochland only allowed 1 touchdown on defense in the first half and that was with great field position. Offensivly Goochland couldn't get much going because they are so predictable and don't have a QB. Defensively I think Goochland showed up until they realized the game was over. Hats off to Appomattox they are tough but hope Richlands has the opportunity to humble them next week.
Appreciate your post, as you had it half right. Your QB was getting hit all day, your RB's were getting hit in the back field. Onside kick was called right as it has to go 10 yards before you can touch as long as we don't touch first. Keep in mind we scored right before half but a bad call overturned. Thing is you didn't hear a peep out of Appomattox. Your D line was tough, as good we have seen. Our passing was off but I credit Goochland D for that. And to your last statement that we needed to be humbled, I don't think your will find a more humble team anywhere. I saw one poster of Goochland's say the winning streak ends today, while I agree it will end one day I am hoping it can go one more game.

Think what you want, as it really is starting to sound like sour grapes. appomattox has a very good football program and has for awhile, actually a long while. Keep playing your soft schedule and you will be continue to be there.

Well gooch ! No one can predict the future so th average thing you said is not even a topic ! But winning back to back state tiles and 30 games in a row will be a dynasty! Now that's above average wouldn't you say !!

Dude appo just allowed your offense 67 yards rushing , 13 of the 37 rushing plays were for negative yards and only 86 yards passing ! That's total domination and better than average ! Wow can't believe that word was used , unreal !

Justin Verlander really!!! How old are you 12. Oh Yeah!!! My daddy makes more money than your daddy. Nanna Nanna Boo Boo!!! GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT CHILDISH CRAP!!!!!

Nah Goochland has been a contender since 2004, can't say the same for appomattox. Enjoy your time while it last.
Contender.....that's what people say when they can't when it all......I laughed, all that counts are Titles. This Appo run reminds me of the Vic Hall days at Gretna, no one could touch them.

Several comments on this; First the onside didn't go 10 yards? Secondly Appo's #14 scored a TD when he fell on the Goochland player and never touched the ground. Appo had numerous dropped balls's at least one would have been a TD.
Your turnovers came mostly from great defensive pressure, "swarm" tackling and great anticipation by our defensive backs....give our "D" it's due credit. Forget your passing game , we shut down your running game and you had some very good backs.

I was watching this board and the "boastful banter" was coming hard and heavy from both sides so easy on how WE need to be humble now that your defense allowed 40+ points and we played our JV most of the 4th quarter ( which is when you got your second score).

As far as Raider Football relevance,if you look at it for the past 10 years Appomattox numerous times went to the playoffs and lost to many eventual State Champions....Gretna,Giles to name a few as well as winning last year and going back this year. You are right in that we had 10 or so great Seniors last year and 20 + great Seniors this year. We will still be a good team next year depending on how we rebuild our line and running game but we will miss this group. We do have the best coaching staff in Appomattox probably since the Bragg Days so we are hopeful.

Bottom line , our team smacked you in the mouth and it's hard to swallow...we've been smacked in our mouths before and found it's better to be quiet and let your mouth heal than letting it run while it's hurting!

I think petty things have been said on both sides. I have chosen to take the high road. To be an elite (consistent) program for better than a decade, great coaching is the biggest key (Goochland is 131-32 over 12 years). Championships come when the combination of great athletes and size come into the same year. Appomattox has a great combination of coaching and players. If Goochland had played their best game of the year they could have kept it a more respectful score but Appomattox has too much top to bottom this year. Now, some of the posters posting about Appomattox and Goochland have brought an arrogant element to these posts. It does not bring a favorable light to Appomattox or Goochland's fan base. I know for a fact that when Goochland went to two title games in a row (won 1 title), our fan base on here never dogged or belittled any opponent even after a win (Essex) when everyone said Essex would crush Goochland. As for the Appomattox football experience yesterday. What a great crowd, team and experience. A lot to be proud of. Good luck to both teams next week in the championship game!

Lets keep it humble guys and THAT is the Raider way. Im not innocent. I have in the past let my emotions get the best of me. Especially when I was the only Appo fan on here last year and we were called overrated.

Like the tweet from Appo said last night, Appomattox fans are like Rambo. We dont draw first blood, but when the first shot is fired. We are like a pack of wolves to come defend our county, fans, and football team. I help admin the social media stuff and no more than an hour after the Richlands win. Richlands fans were posting disrespectful stuff. I deleted it so it wouldnt get ugly. I know both of us have a big fan base so I know it would get ugly real fast.

I agree, wish we had a bigger crowd. It wasn't bad but we have had much bigger crowd's. I think our fan's have been somewhat spoiled. When our program made a turn and became competitive for a title (starting in 2005), it looked like what Appomattox had yesterday. Very loud and very proud! We've made the playoffs 13 (not difficult with current format) years in a row and I think the fan base has become a little stagnant. They were pretty loud for the amount of people that were there though. Appomattox fans have EVERY right to be pumped and excited! You have a great team. As a Goochland fan, it is easier to take a loss to a team that was just better than us. The loss that hurts the most are the ones you feel like you should have won...

Good comment G-Dog2 and all Respect for Goochland's team...they had a great year and were respectful players on and off the field; that is a tribute to great parents and coaches.

I actually thought yalls crowd was pretty decent. Yall was loud as well until the 3 TDs in 3 minutes happened. I think it was pretty dead after that.

21 points to start the 3rd quarter were more points than we gave up in any game this year. Really had nothing to cheer for at that point. I was proud of the way Goochland's defense played . I know 45 points is a ton of points but the defense was just put in a bad position for a big part of the game. Most of the points were from short drives. Credit to your defense. No excuses from this "Dog". I am already thinking of next year! Our JV went undefeated this year and the future is bright for my Goochland Bulldog's!

I thought you had a good crowd also, I liked all the signs and posters. As a fan from the opposite side it makes the cheering from both sides get louder and prouder and no signs were disrespectful. Your fans were good for the most part. 1 or 2 fans got a little crazy but hey everyone has that (even Appomattox unfortunately). Your coaches were very classy and good as well as your players. I didn't think bad of your coach either on the unsportsmanlike penalty as it happened at a time when you really needed something good to happen and it looked like a bad call was getting ready to happen with a fumble call but II don't think he realized at the time a personal foul overruled any fumble that may have happened. I have seen a number of teams come in over the last few years, some have won and others have not but Goochland left me with a good impression of their fans, team, coaches and players.

I don't see how there Appo engaged in "petty" statements, but I do agree that Goochland did. What I gathered from this discussion was that Goochland was a little upset for a couple reasons, 1). They honestly believed that they could compete with Appo this year. During the game the first half was going their way (mainly because of a poor kicking game from Appo and missed offensive opportunities) and they had even more confidence. But like true champions do, Appo closed the door in the second half (scratch that, they SLAMMED the door). Goochland then saw the true potential of Appo and they didn't like it, nor did they believe the score was Appo's doing as much as it was Goochland "shooting themselves in the foot". You're right, you did get shot in the foot, but Appo was holding the gun. 2). After the butt whipping, you then tried to down Appo's program, not only did you try and down it, you tried to PROMOTE your own. That's ridiculous. You then tried to state how Appo has been irrelevant for all but the last two years and that you (Goochland) is a true power. I then countered with "What makes a team a power? State titles? Because if that is the case, then IF Appo wins this year then they have just as many titles as Goochland which would in turn make their program JUST AS relevant as Goochland's. The guy continued to be a douche and talk about how many years they were considered "contenders" and that a number of Goochland teams could beat this year's Appo team. Like come on guy. And if that wasn't bad enough, he tried to ride the coattails of Justin Verlander. That sequence of events (from Goochland06) is the EPITOME of PETTY. There was ZERO pettiness from anyone from Appo, they simply answered and asked question that Goochland06 offered up. G-Dog, you seem like a pretty level headed guy that loves your team, but there was zero pettiness from the Appo side, send your boy Goochland06 a private message and have your little talk with him. Appo embarrassed Goochland yesterday. They manhandled Goochland in EVERY facet of the game. It is what it is. Congratulate your boys and look forward to next year, let your fan base know it doesn't do Goochland justice to get on here and spout off about absolutely ridiculous claims.

GaitorBait1988, your response to my post is petty. Adding little digs like slammed and shot in the foot is really not necessary. I'll give it to you though, your good at what you intend to do. I have nothing to do with what other posters post on these boards. I personally do not care for what was said this week by a couple of Goochland posters this week. I think people get emotional when they feel their team is not given due respect. I have been nothing but gracious in victory and defeat on these boards for years. I have given my honest opinion about the game and I will always try to show class and respect not only for my team but every team that competes in the VHSL. Every community loves their team and every coach and player puts in hard work to represent their school and community to the best of their abilities. In the grand scheme of life, how people react to victory and defeat shows what kind of person a person is. Enjoy the success of your team.

Good at what I do? What's that? Converse with someone who believed their team was a little better than they really were? You are acting like Appo people are on here after the win trying to seek out Goochland people to rub the win in their face. Actually it was quite the opposite, Goochland fans(more like a singular person) tried to get on here and downgrade the win of Appo, by stating that Goochland was the cause of the loss and that their program is better overall anyway. Appo people of course are going to defend their team on statements like that. I did see Appo people on here the week prior to the game stating "I believe Appo will win and it won't be close", that's a LOGICAL opinion. But after you get blown out of the water, it isn't becoming to get on here and try to downgrade the team that just embarrassed you. It is fun to see a team have such success (A state title and 29 wins in a row), but from the sounds of Goochland06, Goochland has been a "contender" for years and this is another year you can add to that category, so enjoy that as well.
