Gretna preview

In the scrimmage against Staunton River and Martinsville on Friday night they ran almost every play out of the wing-t. And ran it very well I might add, also the qb threw the ball well, connected on a good amount of pass plays including several long passes. Gretna looked very good against SR and MHS.

Sounds good! Hope they can be successful this year!

I wonder if HR6 has any comments....

I wonder the same thing. I wonder if he will turn on his team since they are not only not running the only offense that anyone should ever run according to him (spread), but they are running the absolute worst thing ever (wing).

No matter the type of offense Gretna runs I believe they will have a good year. The O was good but the D was very good also. They were very aggressive, played downhill and were very hard hitting. Good size up front on both lines and good overall team speed. SR was young but they had very good numbers and were well coached. They played very hard, and they'll get better through out the season. The Dogs, well they lost alot and they don't have many players, only dressed about 25-26 kids and some of them were jv players. Lot of work to do in the Ville.

“I want everybody to know in the area that we’re no joke,” Berger said, “and we’ll be in Salem this December. We have potential to be the greatest team in Virginia.” Wow In today’s paper ! They playing with some confidence

It will be between Appomattox & Gretna that’s for sure
I saw Dan River Friday and they didn’t look bad by any means. Now of course they were up for the GW game but they have very nice size and some speed. I was shocked. Lines are strong and they have about 4-5 playmakers including two QBs who can run and throw. They also have a kicker who can boot it, hit their only score of the night from about 40 yards out. They beat LCA 14-0 the previous week. GW was just way too much for them but you could definitely see their potential.

I think most programs would take their down. A couple years seemed to be really down, but they have won a championship this decade. Not many teams can say that.
Oh I know. Gretna went from sugar to you know what fast. I grew up watching Gretna beat teams 64-0 on a gamely basis. The only team that would challenge them would be William Campbell. When I got to high school they won 2 (my freshman year in 08 and my senior year in 2011) and went to the ship in 2010. Men my age (22-25) are used to seeing Gretna dominate. They had one hell of a run. 2002 to 2011. They had some teams bruh!! You’d question their birth certificates! 2011 to 2018 has been a long wait!

I get what you are saying and they certainly have a rich tradition, but they haven't been waiting anywhere near as long as your team (early 80s right) or my team (never).
