Saw this on the GW Football Dan Club Facebook page. Eagles won't play at GWHS this fall due to track construction. Will likely play at Averett, however that will affect their concessions as Averett run their own and don't let schools use their concession trucks.
"We learned today that the GW Eagles football games won't be played at GWHS this fall. The track will not be finished until 2023.
We will be announcing what home games will be played at Averett in the near future.
Games at Averett, the Fan Club will not be able to have the concessions unless we want to set up tents and offer drinks and snacks. This is a big hit to our fundraising. All profit from concessions are used to help to purchase items for middle, JV and varsity teams."
Long time GW football broadcaster Chuck Vipperman went more into detail on his Facebook page:

I'll share the new Southside News Today episode later with information on the Eagles' 2022 home games being moved. Here is the text of the story so far.
"For the first time in 50 years, the GW Football team will NOT play their home games this fall at J.T. Christopher Stadium. School leaders Thursday announced that the installation of a new track at the stadium would not be done in time for the football season. It should be completed by the 2023 calendar year. That means the Eagles’ five home games will be moved. Right now, two of them are set to be played at Averett University. Those are the games against Patrick County and Halifax County. The other three against Dinwiddie, Nation Ford and Magna Vista could be played at Averett on Thursday nights, if arrangements can be made. If not, the Eagles will have to find another place to play. Bad weather forced the Eagles to move a 2019 playoff game to Frank Campbell Stadium---but otherwise they’ve been at Christopher Stadium since it was built in 1971."
