Also, the city of Danville lost an absolute legend in Bryan “Keeta” Covington over the past weekend. He led GW to its last state championship in 1982 and was a 5 star recruit before all of the recruiting services made that a thing. Played at Maryland and led the ACC interceptions and punt return yards. LEGEND! One of the better people you’d ever meet too. We ask yall to keep Coach Bam and the Covington family in your prayers. Will be nice to see the Eagles win big in his honor.
Chuck I just wanted to say I admire you for all you do for the Danville community. I have never met you before but I have watched some of your broadcasts and you do a great job. I’m happy for you guys. You are having a good season and I wish you all the best in your games to come.
So sorry to hear that sad news Bo. I remember him, one of the best football players GW ever had.
He will be out for three games as per VHSL. Hard lesson to learn, but hopefully this will make him even better.

Staunton River looks good. Definitely their best team since Grayson Overstreet. GW’s offense flows so much better this year but the QB has to make a few more plays for them to be a legit region contender. Great game so far.

Refs had some questionable calls but SR was tough as nails. GW’s QB is a good kid but you can’t throw a lateral on 4th and 5 with a minute left on the clock. I’m not coming at the young man but gotta play like a 3 year starter if GW wants to win Region D. Big win for the Eagles without their best defensive player.

I feel sure he was just running the play that was sent it. A very curious call, to be sure.
The refs seemed bound and determined to insert themselves into the game. I *hate* when they do that.
SR is a tough team! I wish we could borrow #2 and #99!

I think the call was was bubble and go and the corner didn’t bite so he just checked it down it was 4 th down and about 6
Thanks for the clarification Mic and Chuck. By no means am I coming at Neo. Would like to see him put in position to do what he’s good at, throwing slants (love that GW is utilizing that in their offensive package), perfecting his long ball (he’s throws a nice ball and has an arm) and running the read option. Many people will look at the score and say GW struggled with an average team..SR will make some noise in the playoffs and is a very sound football team. I see why they beat Magna Vista!
SR was VERY physical on defense. Lots of guys going both ways but they still looked good in the fourth.
SR is a Senior dominated team very scrappy bunch their having a good year they gave Jefferson Forest all they wanted also

The officials made two very bad calls that impacted the game. On Glenn’s first TD, I ran it back three times and didn’t see the hold on the GW WR. He had the defender sealed and the ref called it from behind. Can’t make that call off of emotion. The other really bad call was the pass interference on SR’s last drive. Their WR made an insane catch, it definitely was an PI but they gave him the catch and added the 15 yards after the catch. I’ve never seen that. That’s normally either 15 yards or decline the play as it, the ref tacked on 15 yards to an already 15 yard gain on the pass. SR scored on the next play. I live in the 804 and can say that officiating has been questionable at every game I’ve been at this year. Gotta let the kids decide the outcome.
