Half: Martinsburg 49 Spring Mills 0

As Martinsburg continues to dismantle opponents during the playoffs in convincing fashion, does it bring more credibility to their dominance seeing that Salem has continued to progress in VA playoffs?

Not unless Salem wins 1-2 more games. Going 3 games deep into the playoffs is the most frequent outcome for a Salem team in a given year and it's been that way for 30ish years now. The GW game was Salem's 70th playoff win since they first made the playoffs in 1986.

They've won 50+ in a row, I fail to see why they need the Salem game to add weight to their success. Martinsburg fans likely feel the same way, Salem was not even a speedbump in the road for them, they were neither impressed nor care about the Salem program.

I guess I only asked because there had been some debate here in the past about the competition level in WV. When Martinsburg comes in and beats a Salem playoff team it was said then said that it was Salem’s weakest team in a decade. Now with Salem going into a regional championship I’m wondering if any credit from the previous doubters has been given.

Not worst team in decade. However, not as good as 2014,15, 16,17

This is the 12th time in the last 20 seasons that Salem has had a 13+ game season (they've had 12+ game seasons in 17 of the last 20) which makes it the norm, not the exception. If Salem plays a 14 or 15 game season it will certainly look a lot better as a win for Martinsburg (once again, I doubt their fans care) but if Salem loses to Glass then an "average" Salem team just finished their season.

This is, on the whole, probably an above-average Salem team but they're probably 6th best in the past decade as the season stands right now and probably 12th or maybe 11th of the past 20 seasons.

Final 70-0. As a Bulldog fan, this is not the most talented team (2017), but the team has the best chemistry I have seen from Coach Walker’s squad.

Dang. All the Martinsburg fans I talked to were very impressed with Salem's program .They were also stating that Salem will probably end their streak next yr.

It's possible for the competition in WV to be poor and for Martinsburg to have a very good team. 70-0 in a quarterfinal game kind of indicates both of those things are true.

Quarterfinals
Please keep in mind that 50% of Martinsburg’s schedule are Out of State opponents...so it not only WV competition that Martinsburg is dominating. This has been the norm for Martinsburg for the last 10-12 years. Eventually the win streak will end but until it does winning 54 in a row is very impressive. Regardless of competition you can only play teams who want to play.

Martinsburg played 2 good out if state opponents this yr. Academy Park and Salem. In my opinion both schools would mop up most of Martinsburg's schedule. The schedule is what it is. Every team plays schools that are not good.
