Congrats to Altavista - a few notes
Well done to Altavista - they are as good as advertised - they can rain threes and have the big men to contend with as well - stop one, then what to do about the other and so on.
Essex played a great 1st half (great scheme, execution and personnel usage etc.). A-town came out on fire dropping threes and looking good and it was like "oh s--" but Essex played great and did not back down. AltaVista's crowd seemed a tad stunned. It was very exciting as with a great team like Altavista every possession is crucial. Going in, I felt if Essex can keep it close to the half, anything could happen. 29-29 at the half.
After Halftime - completely different story. Essex made the 1st basket to go up 31 to 29. Could we be witnessing one of the biggest upsets in recent memory?
Nope.
Altavista goes on a 20 to 2 run the rest of the 3rd quarter. Game over.
Great run by Essex for the Conference 43 title. Young team- next year could be very good.
Good luck to Altavista- Very well run organization that I observed - old school (nice) - nice folks - loved the opening festivities of the game - kick a---! plus, I liked the lay out of your athletic facilities, football, track, proximity to gym etc.- cool stuff.
Now, if Altavista can defeat Essex next year in Football and Basketball, then I'll really be impressed.....
