Halifax Undefeated no longer

No shame. Appomattox almost beat Dan River a week or so ago. They’re always tough.

I now believe Salem is the biggest threat to Halifax in 4D. All five of their losses are to great teams and the their largest margin of defeat was 72-66 at Northside. They will be battle tested come playoff time. Those Spartans will be good!

5 losses
Northside 72-66
Cave Spring 71-67 in OT
Patrick Henry 63-60
Cave Spring 72-69
Northside 73-69

I think GW will still be the team that gives Halifax the most trouble. Danville has played inconsistent but they find a way to win when it matters come region time. Since 2013, they’ve only missed the state tournament twice (2013 old AAA and 2018). They have very good guard play and have faced adversity pretty well, going 2-0 in games against teams they lost to the first timr (Dan River & LCA). Parker does an outstanding job at getting them prepared for this time of season. The Region is Halifax’s to lose but I wouldn’t count out the champs yet. Their OOD schedule was also the best it’s been in some time with Charlotte Olympic, Green Run and Dan River x2. I’d say Halifax, GW, JF and Glass are the top 4 front runners. Roanoke basketball is always blah for me, except for the Northside teams of the past couple of years.

Fair enough, I think 4D will be fun at the very least. Good to hear GW beat LCA tonight.

I'm still not counting GW out. All of their games they've lost were to 10+ win teams, and they picked up a win against LCA tonight. I think that the loss tonight was a bit needed because we were starting to get a little cocky from being undefeated for so long. Judging by some of the players' social media they look like the loss locked them back in and humbled them. With the exception of Pulaski and Amherst, it's anybody's region to win.

Fan support is also getting to be an issue again. The past two games have only had around 200-250 in attendance, including only about 30 students. I know it's been cold but if the game's inside and you can see many in the Walmart parking lot across the street every week. Some have complained the tickets prices are too high but are more than willing to get a Bojangles breakfast every day. We sold student tickets to the Magna Vista game last Friday, and only 7 out of 1,400+ students bought the $3 ticket. There was only 2 other students besides me in the student section tonight, and it's a 'Good attendance' if you can get 10 students to go in the student section.

It was a very good win for them. They really needed a confidence booster. Parker relates to the guys and they play hard for him. If Tyler McDuffie (6’9 300 Center) can be an enforcer, I think GW could very well come out of the West again. GW is smaller outside of him and Spratt (6’5 but doesn’t play as much). Kapone, Walden, Howard and Dixon are playing extremely well at the right time. IF they can stay focused, GW will be a tough out.
